Really great short stories that actually put me in the Christmas mood even though its hot outside!
The first story had intrigue and mystery. I loved the plot line of cracking a Mayan and Aztec code to stop drug cartels. It made the romance between the two characters fun and adventurous. Even though Marisa hates Christmas her Ranger makes it special and gives her new memories to make it the most special time of year. A fun story that could have been a full length novel.
The second story about trying to win back the fiancé that got away was fun. I actually felt like I was in the South for Christmas. The author really excels at describing what makes this small town so special at Christmas. Although Dani is there to win back Nate, the chemistry between her and Sawyer her colleague is so intense. I was totally rooting for Sawyer over boring Nate. This story was well written as it pulled me in and made me laugh and care about each character getting their happily ever after.
The third story is about redemption. The main character returns home to win back the love of her life. I liked this story, it had great elements, such as the descriptive scenery. It just didn't draw me in as much as the other two stories. Still a fun read, no reason not to enjoy, but the other two were more fun and exciting.

It’s like getting four stockings instead of one on Christmas morning. I enjoyed each and every one of these short stories and it has left me firmly in the holiday spirit.

If you aren’t familiar with any of these authors, this is a perfect way to get to know them and their writing style. For long-time fans this is a superb holiday treat. It’s a great combination of romance, mystery, longing, love, and ultimately the feelings brought on by Christmas.

So if you are looking to get a jump start into the holidays or know someone who loves a quick read, this would be a wonderful addition to any nightstand with the holidays approaching.

Our First Christmas by Lisa Jackson
I enjoyed this story. In fact it is the most emotional of the 4 stories in this book, at least in my opinion. I've read many of Lisa Jackson's books and they are usually more suspense than romance so I was caught by surprise to find that it is a contemporary romance read. The story is about Megan who is having second thoughts about her marriage with Chris. It's not about affairs whatsoever and more about the marriage becoming stale after a point in time and when the children have grown up and moving off to college.

The story's told mainly from Megan's POV. I really enjoyed it because it flashes back to how they first met and how things went on from there. It made Megan remember the love that they had. And honestly, the love then was genuine and sincere that is just so touching and sweet. I did however wish that the story was a little longer and had a more solid ending.

A Ranger For Christmas by Mary Burton
Dr Marissa Thompson has great passion and is well known in the area of ancient languages. Since her father left her mum and her on Christmas eve, she never liked Christmas since then and mainly also because of her mother. It was close to the Christmas holidays when Texas Ranger Lucas Cooper located Dr Thompson to help him crack a code, written in ancient language, to stop the drug lord's activities. Through this, Marissa was thrown in situations that drew her closer to Lucas. As their attraction for each other grew, Marissa realized that there is so much more to life that has to be explored.

This is my first read by Mary Burton and I was surprised that it was not just a sweet read but action-filled intriguing. I think the author did well on the ending as well.
