You can feel what the characters are feeling.

The suspense and tension build throughout the entire book, beginning on page one and ending in an explosive conclusion.

All the ends were tied up in nice little bows, but just a little to quickly and nicely for my tastes.

Deserves To Die by Lisa Jackson is a great mystery/suspense book. There are actually two mysteries contained in this book. The first is who is killing women and cutting off their ring finger. The second is who is after Jessica/Anne-Marie and why.

There has been a murder in Grizzly Falls, Montana. The body of a young woman is found, and her ring finger and ring is missing. Detectives Selena Alvarez and Regan Pescolli are the detectives assigned to the case. Besides having to work the murder, the two detectives are also struggling with the fact that their old captain, who they respect and like, has been shot and they do not know if he is going to survive. Pescolli is also dealing with another potential problem, she is pregnant. Her children are teenagers and she does not know if she wants to travel the baby road again. She is engaged but she is not sure how her fiance will react to the news of her pregnancy. She has a lot on her plate and she is struggling to get by each day. Then another woman is murdered, and again the ring finger and ring are missing. It looks as though there is a serial killer in Grizzly Falls.

Jessica/Anne Marie is on the run and she has come to Grizzly Falls looking for help from the injured captain. She is a master of disguise and although she has totally changed her appearance, she is worried that HE will find her and kill her. But who is He and why does HE want her dead?

Both story lines run side by side throughout the book and at the end they intersect in a big way. The suspense and tension build throughout the entire book, beginning on page one and ending in an explosive conclusion.

The characters are well developed, well rounded and three dimensional.

My aunt first introduced me to Lisa Jackson's novels in high school. I have been an avid reader of all her murder/mystery series ever since. I have been waiting for this book to come out for awhile.

There are quite a few twists and turns in the lastest Pescoli and Alvarez book. Pescoli having some news that she's not to sure will go over very well. Not to mention the entire department is still reeling from the shooting of their beloved Sheriff, Dan Grayson. I must say that I was extremely sad when he was shot in the last book. Like previously stated I have been reading this series for awhile, I have fallen in love with all of the characters and the quirks.

I was also really excited at the appearance of Dective Montoya...yes that's right from the Bentz and Montoya series! Although I was a little disappointed that one of my favorite New Orleans cops wasn't more involved. It was nice to see the two series cross though.

Overall a very gripping read and a fantastic continuation of the Pescoli and Alvarez series.

Lisa Jackson gives us fast paced stories. with compelling characters, that are not perfect or always agreeable, like in the case of Detective Pescoli who is one of the main characters of this series, I always look forward to the next book in great part to see how Pescoli is doing, she is a single mother of two teenagers, need I say more!
The plot line in "Deserves to Die " is ok it keeps you interested, it has suspense and intrigue, drama and a big surprise that I did not see coming, I won't give you particulars because I don't want to ruin the book for you. I mentioned that it's a series, if you haven't read any of the previous books it's fine you still understand what's going on because there is always a new plot, it's just the recurring characters that you might have some questions about, but not that it will spoil the book for you, and if you are really interested you can always go to the beginning. The only complaint that I have with Lisa Jackson's books is that some times the endings are not as detailed as I would like, but that's life I guess.

Lisa Jackson writes some intriguing mystery thrillers and always loved them. I really loved her “McCaffertys” series. In her “To Die” series, Selena Alvarez and Regan Pescoli take the front seat as detectives in Grizzly Falls, Montana.

There is a lot happening in Grizzly Falls this time. A couple of bodies of young women appearing with their ring fingers missing, keeps Pescoli and Regan on their toes. Added to this, Dan Grayson gets shot in a previous story and now he is in coma with no chance of recovery, and the new fill in sheriff Hooper Blackwater has big shoes to fill and appease the residents of Grizzly Falls.

In parallel, Anna Marie is on the run from her psychotic ex-husband and she seems to have become the mistress of disguise trying to stay safe. Unfortunately her plans to stay safe and get help from Grayson goes down the drain and she realizes, has another past lover boy on her trail as the bounty hunter.

“Deserves To Die” is the sixth in this series. Reading it alone would be more enjoyable as Lisa Jackson tries to bring new developments with the Graysons, changes in Alvarez’s life, but her true fans may not like it as much as the others. It definitely has some exciting moments and the ending was real good. Somehow bringing in Grayson’s family did not sit very well with me, unless it is leading to more in her future books in this series.

All in all, it’s definitely not Lisa’s best, yet it is good enough for a quick read.
