The theme of this book seems to be mother-daughter wars with some brides and baby action thrown in. Our old friends from Blossom Street in Seattle are back and as usual it all revolves around the yarn shop. The pink and cream roses on the cover fit well with the warm fuzzy feeling a Debbie Macomber books leaves you with when you are finished.
Lydia at the yarn shop is dealing with emotional problems her adopted daughter has and with her aging mother's failing health. Lauren, who works at the jewelry shop nearby is dealing with angst over her younger sister's pregnancy and her boyfriend who is dragging his feet as well as her friend and boss who is having an emotional storm over her young daughter's pregnancy and insistence that she is in love with the father and wants to make her own decisions. Another friend, Bethane is dealing with being apart so much from her new husband and her daughter's insistence that her new husband is a mistake and she should reunite with the girl's father, her ex. There is much soul searching before it all resolves into a happy place.
Simple as these books are, you can't put them down. My favorite part of them is that there is no soft porn which so many romance novels are full of these days. The story is the important part and it is not strengthened by adding that stuff. In my opinion, the story is enhanced by not having that and leaving it to the reader's imagination. It shows the quality of the story teller that she doesn't have to use that sort of thing to sell her books -- they sell on the strength of the tale itself.

Visiting Blossom Street again reminds me why Debbie Macomber is such a popular author. She writes about real people with all of their warts and halos. Her characters are folks we know: the cancer survivor, the parent of a troubled teen, the aging parents, the blended families, the jealous exs and the lonely singles. She reminds us that we all have issues to solve and that with love and patience, we can overcome almost anything. I recommend this book to all Macomber fans and to tose who want an enjoying romantic read.

If you have read any of Ms. Macomber’s other books from the Blossom Street Series you will be familiar with some of the previous characters mentioned. Lydia Gomez owns the friendly and popular A Good Yarn store. Max and Bethanne are married, in love but live miles apart making their long distance marriage extremely difficult.
We are introduced to Lauren, who is in her mid thirties and has been dating Todd for quite some time. Todd seems to have excuses to commit and is interested in advancing in his career before he can move on in their relationship. Lauren gets a call from her younger sister telling her she is pregnant. After she hangs up, Lauren realizes that she has wasted a lot of time and decides to take matters into her own hands.. It makes Lauren realize that she is the only person who can control what she wants to happen in her life and is shocked at some of the things that are totally unexpected that she will be facing.
Bethanne and Max are newlyweds but have more of long distance marriages, which definitely cannot continue the way it is. They have to sit down and decide what is best for them in order to make it work. It won’t be easy but one of them is going to have to change for this marriage to remain strong.
Lydia is having some problems with her daughter Casey, who was in many foster care homes, before Lydia and her husband adopted her.
When you take these three women and put them together you have a very interesting mix of love, surprises, sadness and happiness all combined. It makes for very enjoyable reading.

A basket of romance couples' short story yarns, skillfully knitted together into a single novel, by a #1 Love author, Debbie Macomber. The title, "Blossom Street Brides," says it all--schmooze love to the ultimate, ladies totalee. Guys: score by buying it for your sweetheart. A "just because" gift. Expect return kisses.
Oh there is a sinister-free yarn mystery looped amid purls. Three nontraditional family groups have interlocking relations. Conflicts abound making readers [me] living in an ordinary dysfunctional family seem timid. "Blossom Street Brides" double doses second chance romance lingering on the bottom rungs of bliss. Alas, knitting is easier than trusting. Trust is a book theme. Macomber's style stirs this romance pot to boiling, but backs off the heat in time for the simmering love finale. From a yarn shop, to a biker's bar, to the jeweler. Fast pace.
Girls will be smitten. Macomber's does it well again, so well, even a guy like me, with a softer heart for romance, will find it an acceptable read. This author repeatedly turns out fun romance. This one is full of hugs and kisses, babies, and knitting. Romance rolls on for grandma's to teens with outcomes better than reality--novel nice. And there's the mystery of the knitting baskets' philanthropist of Seattle. Expect whirlwind canoodling.
I felt privileged to have lucked into the early Vine on this new release. Brides and babies, Rooster claimed to be better than a motorcycle ride. Pure great romance fiction by Debbie Macomber. 5 stars for fun LOVErs.
