About the Author

Jennifer Ryan is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of The Hunted series and the McBride series. She writes romantic suspense and contemporary small-town romances featuring strong men and equally resilient women. Her stories are filled with love, friendship, and the happily-ever-after we all hope to find. Jennifer lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, three children, dog (Bella), and cat (Shadow). When she isn't writing a book, she's reading one. Her obsession with both is often revealed in the state of her home and in how late dinner is to the table. When she finally leaves those fictional worlds, you'll find her in the garden, playing in the dirt and daydreaming about people who live only in her head, until she puts them on paper.

This is the second in the series of the "bad boy"McBride brothers. Owen is an attorney in the small town of Fallbrook. His brother Brody has settled nicely into his new role of father and loving partner of Rain and Owen is very happy to return to being the favorite uncle of Brody and Rains adorable daughters.

Owen is dealing with a divorce between the local town drunk and suspected abuser of his wife and it's getting messy. Dale, the husband, has accused Owen of having an affair with his wife Shannon who is becoming more and more dependent on Owen and his kindness and protection. It all comes to a head when Dale, after a day of drinking goes to a home he mistakenly believes is Owen's and frightens and actually injures Claire Walsh, the young woman who lives there. Owen is awakened by his cousin Dylan the sheriff, with the news of Claire's injury and the cause. He runs to her side, and escorts her to the hospital, feeling responsible for her injuries.

Claire Walsh is the owner of Claire's Cafe and Bookstore. She has just moved into her home and hasn't even unpacked. Now she is afraid to stay there by herself. Owen felt a strange pull when he saw her waiting to be transported to the hospital. The pull gets stronger when he brings her home and stays with while she slept to keep her safe. Claire felt the attraction also, but seeing him in her shop with two little girls assumes he's married. That assumption is quickly resolved when Owen explains they are his favorite nieces'. Owen is bound and determined to keep Claire safe, and if possible in his life. Claire, somewhat jaded from a divorce from a cheating husband who left her broke, is a little more cautious.

The romance is sweet, Owen is unshakeable in his attraction and desire to keep her, forever.

I liked this even better than the first, and considering how much I loved the first, that is high praise indeed! Owen is such an amazing character and so is Claire. Both are very strong, stubborn and brave. Their romance was a delight to watch unfold. This book also had a greater sense of suspense and even though about half-way through, it seemed obvious to me what was really going on, it came to an exciting conclusion. If these books just keep getting better, I can't wait for the next!

Claire finds herself in harms way when a crazy man mistakes her address for another persons. The man is really after Owen for helping his wife get a divorce and for putting him in jail. While Claire hasn't had the best of luck with good looking men. Her ex husband did her bad and she finds it hard to trust. Owen however makes her rethink her thoughts. Owen has always noticed his neighbor and while he wish the reason for them getting to know each was better he jumps at the chance to know her. Even while a crazy person is out to harm Claire they begin to fall in love.

Claire is starting her life over and is doing a good job at it. She has a wonderful shop and is slowly beginning to get her house in shape. She doesn't like to depend on a man to do things for her. While she is slow to trust she does start to let her guard down for Owen. I like how she is a hard worker and she remembers the little things about those around her. Owen is sexy lawyer who thinks he has done a few bad things in is past. However he is a sweetheart and very protective of those he cares about. If he has a fault I would say it is he is blind sometimes to those close to him and doesn't see the bad in them.

I have to say this book has the perfect title. It isn't hard at all to fall for Owen and anyone who reads this book will do so. With danger, love, caring and so much more I really hated to see it end. Claire and Owen are a perfect match and I love seeing them together. They have a lot to deal with and it could have easily tore them apart but instead it pushes them together. There is the hot scenes that are perfectly placed in the book and only add to the delight that this book is. It is the little things I noticed in this book that made it so great and show the author truly cares about her characters.

Falling for Owen that's just what Claire did, but before they could be together forever they had to deal with an obsession someone had about Owen. Jennifer Ryan once again has a hit with this story. Owen and Claire's story will leave you not wanting to put this book down until the end. Next up will be Dylan and Jessie's story, I look forward to reading about them next.

I loved book one 'THE RETURN OF BRODY McBRIDE' so much that I downloaded this book. Boy am I ever glad I did. This series is fantastic. A little suspense, a little mystery, and a whole lot of heartwarming romance. I'm also glad I got to catch up with Brody and Rain, and also with the girls. I love the close loving relationship Owen had with not only his brother, but Rain and the girls, too.

I have to admit; I figured out the who dunnit part on this one, about half way through the story. But I never expected to go quite the way it did, before that person was caught. The way the suspense part of the story unfolded, was simply brilliant!

I would highly recommend this book, as well as this series, to everyone. I'm off to download the next book, now. I can't wait to see what's going to happen with Dylan's story.
