JM Darhower is the author of countless stories and poems, most of which only she has ever read. She lives in a tiny town in rural North Carolina, where she churns out more words than will ever see the light of day. She has a deep passion for politics and speaking out against human trafficking, and when she isn't writing she's usually ranting about those things. After suffering from book impotency for a few weeks, I have found my literary Viagra. It pains me to say that I nearly missed reading this book, I didn't think that I could suffer through another college-age-coming-of-age Cinderella story. Thankfully this isn't another Cinderella fairy tale.....it's more like Red Riding Hood meets the Big Bad Wolf. What prompted me to read this were the following lines:
"I love you, too. Promise me you'll remember that.
"I promise."
"Good," he says. "Because I"m about to f*** you like I don't."
Karissa may be a college-age girl, but her love interest is no boy, Ignazio "Naz" Vitale is all man. But this is not the typical student being taught by the master; Karissa is teaching Vitale a thing or two. Karissa is embracing college life, she has no other option, because home is basically being tethered to her paranoid mother. Naz is a .....well, I don't know what exactly Naz is in the beginning, but whatever he does, he does it well. The two bump into each other the college campus, and then later at a club. It isn't love or sex at first sight, but Karissa probably should have paid closer the old adage about curiosity killing the cat. The two end up in a relationship, but the story isn't just about the romance, the reader gets a feeling that there is something more going on, and there is....but I don't want to give away any spoilers.
Naz may be leading Karissa down a dark troubled road, but let's just say that she fueled up, bought new tires, and packed snacks for the ride. This story held my attention from the beginning until the last page, it got better with each page turned. The suspense kept building, and it didn't disappoint at the end. The author, J.M.Read more ›

Monster In His Eyes is sensual, thrilling and all-consuming story that will make your heart race and your breath speed up rapidly. This book is no child’s play. It is extremely intense story about finally finding your one true hapiness, only to realize that fairytales and Prince Charming have no place in real world. So are you ready for Karissa’s & Naz’s story?
I seriously love J.M. Darhower’s writing. She proves again that no matter what she writes about; whether it is paranormal, romance or suspense, I am putty in her hands. Her writing invites you in, her unique plot keeps you captivated and her characters will fascinate you. This book is no exception and this is a story you don’t want to miss!
In Monster In His Eyes, J.M. Darhower ventures into genre of erotic romance with slight touch of dark themes. But don’t fret, this is not your ordinary plotless erotica novel. Storyline and its twists were always the primary focus of this book and I was thankful for that. However, I feel like I need to mention that characters were walking very thin line between passionate and rough animalistic sex quite frequently in this book. I liked it, it was more than suitable for this kind of story, for the kind of people Naz and Karissa are. But in case it’s something that makes you uncomfortable, you have been warned.
Naz. He is the reason why I enjoyed this book so much. Man of many faces, an enigma. Is he a charming knight in shinning armor? A gifted seducer and experienced playboy? An intimidating powerful man? Or a monster in disguise? Who is real Ignazio Vitale? I know only one thing for sure, and that is that Naz is one of the most intriguing characters I had a pleasure to read about. Karissa is a naive 18 year old college student, who has just met the big bad wolf. Only she doesn't know it yet.
Naz is a 36 year old mystery that wants Karissa for his own.
The first thing you will notice is the huge age difference between Karissa and Naz. And the author does not try to pretty it up for us by making Karissa seem older than she is, but instead uses that gap in age to weave a very intriguing story by playing upon Karissa's naivety.
Going into this book, I had really no clue what to expect. The more I read, the more I began to piece together where things were going. And while I was right about who Naz was, or should I say what, it still did not prepare me for the big reveal towards the end! Wow!!
The storyline is slow building. The author takes her time unraveling the plot to us. And though it definitely kept me turning the pages, there were a few times I did feel things were dragging a bit. Not enough to make me want to abandon the book or skim pages. And I also became aggravated at Karissa a LOT. But then I had to remind myself that she is only 18 and well, just acting her age.
This is book one of a two part series, so things are left unresolved at the end. Not really a cliffy but more of a what happens now kinda ending. And I can't wait to fins out when book two is released!

Karissa Reed is a freshmen at NYU. She has always wanted stability and to feel normal. Her single mother moved them often and was overprotective all her life. Ignazio Vitale aka Naz is a powerful, dark, sexy older man. He comes into her world and sweeps her off her feet promising Karissa the stability she's always craved.

This dark tale is full of secrets and suspense. The plot is riveting and the sexual chemistry is fire hot. This author has an amazing gift in storytelling. I could not put my ipad down. I wanted to know desperately what was going to happen next. As the story unfolds I was left breathless and anxious for the characters.
I am a fan of J.M. Darhower's books. This story and the characters will leave you wanting more. I know I am. This fall will not come quick enough.
