From the Back Cover

Ecstatic Passion

Dr. Ruth once said legendary editor Rachel Kramer Bussel "is only satisfied if you come and come again." Bussel, the editor of the bestsellers Orgasmic and Gotta Have It, has captured 69 top erotica writers serving up steamy scenarios all focused on the Big O. The characters in The Big Book of Orgasms have fun exploring their desires and reaching new depths of pleasure with lovers who range from sweet to sweetly kinky.

A man's sexy strut incites a woman to take matters "In Her Hands" in Tenille Brown's story, while the narrator of Emerald's "Payback" rekindles an old flame and ignites a spectacular passion. Bussel's own searing "I'm on Fire" reveals all the pleasures to be gained through obedience. These are climaxes you'll want to relive more than once.

The Big Book of Orgasms by Rachel Kramer Bussel is an AMAZING collection of shorter erotic stories (1200 words or less).

I have been a fan of Cleis Press' anthologies for quite a while now -- and, in my opinion, prolific editor/author Rachel Kramer Bussel has outdone herself with this huge & varied collection of stories. With 69 short stories in all [written by an impressive team of talented authors including Tenille Brown, Emerald, Donna George Storey, and Kay Jaybee among many others], there really is something for everyone here. Each of the stories is entertaining, sexy, and very well written. Everybody who reads this book will come away with their own personal favorites, but to me a few of the stories clearly stood out: Thomas S. Roche's "How You Christen A Bed" is an uplifting story that anyone who has ever had to move on after an all-too-recent break-up will relate to... Annabeth Leong's "All You Do Is Play" (about an improvised rock & roll performance for a grateful audience) is worthy of several encores... Logan Zachary's "Remote Control" could have been published in a science-fiction anthology; it's also humorous, surprising, and sexy... I don't think I will ever be able to turn on The Weather Channel ever again, without thinking of Salome Wilde's urgent "Weathering The Storm"... Virgie Tovar's "Count Out The Strokes" has a tense build-up, followed by a sudden satisfying conclusion... "Icing On The Cake" by Lula Lisbon is an unexpected treat for anyone with a sweet tooth and a sense of humor... Jade A. Walters' "The Flogger" is an absolute knockout... and "I'm On Fire" by Rachel Kramer Bussel delivers actual flames to an already-smoking-hot collection of stories. Dozens of great short stories, collected in a single book -- all for around twelve bucks? Do yourself a favor, and toss a copy of this "Big Book" into your little shopping cart right now.

Erotica, good erotica, is so much more than a story about sex. That is the core of course but well written erotica makes us feel (pun intended) like any inspiring musical composition. If you look at the root word eros it means life force and without eroticism you have no sexuality and no continuation of our species. Making love, sex, is a basic drive, a need that sustains us, creates art, and is sacred in all its many forms.

It would be impossible for me to pick a favorite story from this collection because so many of them resonated with orgasms past or piqued my curiosity to explore ones I've yet to discover.

All You Do Is Play by Annabeth Leong had me wondering at the possibility and remembering so many concerts swaying to the vibrations rocking through my body. By the Beat by T. Fox Dunham built a slow crescendo with its metronome. Meanwhile, Piano Man by A.M. Hartnett took me back to my college days playing open mic nights and to lovers who could play me like a harp.

The Gallery Exhibit by Chris Komodo took exhibitionism and made orgasm into art. Matinee by Suleikha Snyder reminded me that eroticism doesn't mean sex. It doesn't mean sex at all. A look, a touch, a brushing of arms can be just as hot or hotter than the most passionate kiss or embrace. At the same time Meeting Myself by Anya Levin reminds us that sex is timeless, ageless, and does not end.

The stories that made my husband hand me more sunblock because he was sure I was getting too much sun on my face was Forced Orgasms by Shoshanna Evers and The Flogger by Jade A. Waters.

It's hard to go wrong with anything edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel and this collection was no exception. In fact, I'd have to say this has become my new favorite because of the sheer volume of stories coupled with such stellar writing talent. It is absolutely impossible to pick a favorite when you have so much goodness to choose from. Impossible. Which is a very good thing.

I will say the one story that completely caught me off guard is Do It Again by Sinclair Sexsmith and here's why. I've never before read a f/f story. That's an awful admission to make considering that I write erotica too, and read a ton of it. Somehow f/f stories have remained out of my purview and not by purposeful omission. Do It Again was seriously sexy and tremendously moving in less than three pages of text. I will be seeking out more f/f stories in the future as a result, and certainly reading more work by Sinclair.

There's really something for everyone in this anthology, and with 69 stories, if one doesn't quite work for you, just turn the page.

As with all anthologies, there were certain stories that I gobbled up first. Heading to the table of contents, I sought out my familiar favorites, and with those contributions I found exactly what I expected: solid and engaging tales--good and sexy. Of those, I want to mention Shoshanna Evers's Forced Orgasms, which stayed with me long after. I love that we are in the male POV and able to see his kink through his eyes; feel his compulsion, understand the why and not just the how. Donna George Story's usual talent for bringing you close to her main character was evident in her ingenious, sweet and relatable tale, Book Lover, where a visit to a book store triggers a Pavlovian response to the scent of paperbacks.

These are not stories of the exclusively buff and brawny or swimsuit model-types. Characters who represent all kinds of people, with all their variety of orgasms, give us a peek into sex lives that may not look like your own--may not be anything you've even considered, but you can experience through this diverse collection of Erotic shorts.

I found some new authors to follow in this collection along with my standard favorites. As a whole it makes for a nice addition to any bedside collection. Read this with your lover for inspiration and perhaps some interesting conversation. Something for everyone to find scintillating.
