There is love, action, adventure and intrigue, all the great hallmarks of a historical romance to me.

I love this book. A home run first time up to bat!!! Jennifer Moore has created a wonderful escape in this book. I have read my fair share of regency romances. I like that this book is not your typical regency era novel. That Amelia is not dependent on anyone!!! I love Amelia's backbone, her spunk, and willingness to be where she is needed. She has a big heart and is not afraid to be brave. William is a great character. He is a bit stubborn at first but as a reader you love him despite his cranky side. This is one of my favorites. I look forward to many happy hours lost in the pages of Ms. Moore's books. Looking for your next adventure. Keep up the good work. P.S. love the cover art!

I LOVE this book! I am a huge fan of regency romances, and was delighted with Jennifer Moore's first book, Becoming Lady Lockwood. I laughed, I cried, and I was held totally captive almost from the first page. Miss Amelia Becket, aka Lady Lockwood, is a woman of great strength and character. She is delightful. She and Captain William Drake lock wills in their first encounter, and it only gets better from there. Amelia is used to running a plantation, so doesn't sit idly by when she sees things that need doing, and works her way into the affections of the entire crew as they journey from Jamaica toward London. Captain Drake is convinced that she is not what she seems. The entire plot is regency romance at its best. I look forward to the next book from Moore. Her first book is an excellent read. I can't wait for the next one!

I was kept up to early this morning finishing Becoming Lady Lockwood. I loved the time spent on the ship. It was interesting and well told. We learn a lot because Amelia was so curious and wanted to be useful.

The time in England was the weakest part in my eyes. It felt a little rushed.

Amelia Beckett is a strong character, brave, caring and a hard worker. She is also beautiful inside and out. Amelia grew up on a sugar plantation in Jamaica. She was married by contract to Lord Lockwood but never met him.

Captain Sir William Drake believes that Amelia and her father the Admiral conspired to cheat his estate. He is bringing her to England to find out.

The setting for most of the book is sailing from Jamaica to England in a time when France and England are at war. They are traveling in a military ship. There orders were to go in Frances water.

There was lots of drama, action, romance and interesting characters. It is also a clean read. I did not put the book down till I had finished. I like how the story was told it got your attention from the first chapter and kept it. The story seemed to just flow.
Of course there were a lot of the story you knew would happen and some things were a surprise.

Based on this book alone I would read more by Jennifer Moore in the future.

I was given this book to read so I could give my honest opinion of it and be part of its blog tour.

Well Im really mad. Im mad because this is a fantastic book and it does exactly what I want books TO DO and also what I want them NOT TO DO. I want to live in this world!! It's great when books can do that but then it also sucks because I know I cant haha.

I genuinely feel connected to the characters. Even, amazingly, all the secondary ones like Sidney, Tobias, and Riley. I desperately want to have my own William Drake, I mean, holy cow he is perfection. I want to experience a ship journey plus a ball in London, etc. I mean, come on this book had everything!

Please, please write something again soon! I'm also mad that this is her first and only book (you know, b/c I wanted to read all her others) but hey, congrats on such a lovely first novel!! JUST WHY DID IT HAVE TO END???

Amelia Beckett is an independent woman running her sugar plantation in Jamaica. Yet, she still seeks the approval and love of her uncaring father. She went so far as to agree to marry a man in hopes of pleasing her father. Amelia had never met the man she married by proxy. She became a widow before she even met her husband. She now carries the name Lady Lockwood, but there seems to be discrepancy in the legality of the marriage. She is ordered by her father to come to London for a hearing on the case.

Captain Drake Lockwood no sooner learns of his brother's death when he finds his brother had married by proxy. He is determined to prove this so called widow joined into marriage with his brother by fraudulent means. He is ordered to bring Miss Beckett to London on his ship, during wartime, to prove whether she entered into the union legally. To Drake's confusion the woman seems to be more than just a black widow. Now he feared whether he could get her safely to London without his ship being fired upon.

I found this story intriguing due to strong will and fortitude of Miss Beckett. I found it was so sad that her father was so disconnected from his daughter not holding any affections for his only child.

Captain Drake was not very kind until he got to know the real Miss Beckett. He was very much an honorable gentleman loved and respected by many.

I could not, did not put this book down until I had read the very last page. I was sad for it to end. Loved it from beginning to end. A true romantic swashbuckler! The author has written a real winner. She gave many interesting facts as to Captain Drake's warship. It gave me the feeling of actually how it must have been to be aboard his ship. I am very much looking forward to reading more from Jennifer Moore.

I highly recommend this book.
