About the Author

Melinda Leigh abandoned her career in banking to raise her kids and never looked back. She started writing as a hobby and became addicted to creating characters and stories. Since then, she has won numerous writing awards for her paranormal romance and romantic-suspense fiction. Her debut novel, She Can Run, was a number one bestseller in Kindle Romantic Suspense, a 2011 Best Book Finalist (The Romance Reviews), and a nominee for the 2012 International Thriller Award for Best First Book. She is the author of the Midnight Novels, including Midnight Exposure (a finalist for the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Mystery/Suspense) and Midnight Sacrifice.

More About the Author

Melinda Leigh is a fully recovered banker. A life-long lover of books, she started writing when her youngest child entered first grade as a way to preserve her sanity. Over the next few years, she joined Romance Writers of America, learned a few things about writing a book, and decided the process was way more fun than analyzing financial statements. Melinda's debut novel, SHE CAN RUN, was nominated for Best First Novel by the International Thriller Writers. Her bestselling books have twice been nominated for the Daphne du Maurier Award.

Melinda holds a 2nd degree belt in Kenpo Karate and teaches women's self-defense. She lives in a messy house in the suburbs with her husband, two kids, a couple of dogs and two new rescue cats who already run the place. With such a pleasant life, she has no explanation for the sometimes dark and disturbing nature of her imagination. Find out more about Melinda by visiting melindaleighauthor.com.

I just finished this book and all I can think is wow! I fast became a fan of Melinda Leigh's books when I discovered her first book, She Can Run, and every book hooks me in more and more. In Midnight Betrayal, the third in the Midnight series, we revisit Dr. Louisa Hancock and Conor Sullivan from Midnight Sacrifice. They have not seen each other since the conclusion of MS, and are thrown back together when two interns at Dr. Hancock's new museum go missing. They work together to try and figure out who is taking the girls and killing them, while trying to figure out how they feel for each other as well.
As with all her books, Leigh paints a vivid story that jumps out at you. I personally did not want to put the book down, because not only did I want to know who was taking and killing the interns, but I was also interested in the subplot of Kirra the dog, who Conor rescues under mysterious circumstances. The ending blew me away. If you love romantic suspense, you will love this book! While you can read this book before reading Midnight Exposure and Midnight Sacrifice, if you are a person who likes to read books in sequential order, please do so. Either way, I think you will fall in love with Melinda Leigh's books as much as I have. She is a "must get as soon as it comes out" author as far as I am concerned. This book is her best yet, so I can't wait for the next book she comes out with. :)

Each book in Melinda Leigh's Midnight series is better than the one before it. Every time I thought it had it figured out something would happen to change everything. And when the killer was finally revealed I was totally floored. It was definitely something I didn't see coming. I really hope there will be more books in this series.

Another edge of your seat mystery from Melinda Leigh.
In this fast paced suspense thriller, we are re-introduced to Dr. Hancock and Conor Sullivan when they find themselves on a mission to find a killer before someone else dies.
Don't worry if you haven't read their previous story, Ms. Leigh gives you enough of a back story for this to be a stand alone book.
Ms. Leigh is a great writer, if you like suspense with a twist of romance, this story is for you!

What I enjoy most is a gripping mystery suspense thriller, a fast paced story grabbing readers' attention at the beginning and keeping their interest until they last they turned the last page. "Midnight Betrayal" by Melinda Leigh easily fits this definition.

Melinda Leigh's "Midnight Betrayal" introduces readers to an unknown antagonist in a rundown neighborhood in Philadelphia on the second page of her thriller. She keeps readers in the dark as to who the antagonist is and why or what this evil person's intentions are until we get to the end of the story. This heart stopping story has the readers holding their breath with each change of direction of Leigh's story line. "Midnight Betrayal" has well developed support characters adding to the main story and sub plots. Readers are never aware that the story has changed direction until Leigh decides to open our eyes to the change of scenery.

Leigh introduces us to one of the story's protagonists, Dr. Louisa Hancock, at the beginning of the second chapter of "Midnight Betrayal" and the second protagonist, Connor Sullivan, enters the story at the end of the second chapter. Leigh does a marvelous job of providing her readers with the back story and the history of the two protagonists and continues developing their connection to each other from Leigh's first book "Midnight Exposure" to the present. The reader is keenly aware of the friction between these two characters. Leigh keeps us in suspense as to how their relationship ends or evolves. Both the protagonists deal with trust issues and Leigh puts her readers in the middle of the conflict just to see if they can figure out what is happening.

Readers are first introduced to Conor and Louisa and all of their chemistry in Midnight Sacrifice. That same sexual tension carries over into Midnight Betrayal to give readers a sexy slice of hotness to go along with their suspense. Due to some of the actions carried out by a crazed killer Louisa has been forced to relocate and accept a new job. Now in Philadelphia (Conor’s very own hometown) she is shocked to discover that history seems to be repeating itself. Items are turning up missing from the museum, people Louisia knows all too well are turning up dead, and it involves the one man that she can’t get out of her head.

Conor knows about Louisa’s relocation to Philly. He just has no clue how to go after the woman he has nothing in common with. He also knows that he can’t keep her off his mind. The fates (or at least a psychotic killer) seem to have plans where Conor and Louisa are concerned and those plans are to keep them linked together in whatever way possible. Once the killer puts their plan into motion Conor and Louisa soon discover they are in the center of the sinister plans.

This third installment in Melinda Leigh’s Midnight series is just as intense and amazing as the previous books. All of Leigh’s books are overflowing with intensity as any romantic suspense should be. The pages never stop turning and the reader is kept guessing the who done it til the very end. I’m still shocked how Melinda spun this one. This lady can write an incredibly good romantic suspense.
