Ambition has always been his biggest downfall...until he meets her.
World champion bulldogger Sutton Grant works hard on the road, but his quiet charm has earned the nickname "The Saint" because he's never been the love 'em and leave 'em type with the ladies. When he’s sidelined by an injury, he needs help keeping his horse in competition shape, but he fears trying to sweet-talk premier horse trainer London Gradsky is a losing proposition--because the woman sorta despises him.
London is humiliated when her boyfriend dumps her for a rodeo queen. What makes the situation worse? She’s forced to see the lovebirds on the rodeo circuit every weekend. In an attempt to save face, London agrees to assist the notoriously mild, but ruggedly handsome Sutton Grant with his horse training problem on one condition: Sutton has to pretend to be her new boyfriend.
But make believe doesn't last long between the sassy cowgirl and the laid-back bulldogger. When the attraction between them ignites, London learns that sexy Sutton is no Saint when that bedroom door closes; he's the red-hot lover she's always dreamed of.
The more time they spend together, the more Sutton realizes he wouldn’t mind being roped and tied to the rough and tumble cowgirl for real…
Lorelei James is the NY Times and USA Today Bestselling author of erotic westerns: the Rough Riders series, the Blacktop Cowboys series, and the erotic romances in the Mastered series. Lorelei lives in western South Dakota.
Roped In is story number 6.5 in author Lorelei James’ Blacktop Cowboy Series as well as novella #9 in the 1,001 Dark Nights Series. I was so excited to get my hands on the newest cowboy from Lorelei and oh man, this was one hell of a ride. I loved every minute!
As a world champion bulldogger, Sutton Grant isn’t a stranger to injury. But his last injury was almost the permanent lights out type and since then he’s been on the injured reserve, so to speak. He’s on the mend and feeling pretty good but unfortunately, since he couldn’t exactly do much riding, his horse’s training has been neglected and it was really showing. He needed help and knew exactly the person to call. London Gradsky. Too bad she probably wouldn’t be thrilled to hear from him considering she kinda hates him.
Still bearing the sting of being dumped by her boyfriend, London really needed a distraction. She never would have thought it would have come in a 6 foot 3, hot and sexy, bulldogger package. When Sutton Grant had gotten in touch with her to help him with his horse, her first reaction was to tell him to find someone else but instead her evil genius went to work and she figured he would be the perfect revenge on her ex. All he had to do was pretend to be her new beau and flaunt their new relationship in her ex’s face. Genius! Except that almost right off the bat her feelings were anything but pretend. Would she be able to stick with the ruse until his horse’s training was over and her ex got his healthy spoonful of “see what you’re missing”?
Lemme just take a moment to bask in the memory of Sutton and London *dreamy sigh* Ok, I’m back. This novella absolutely knocked my socks off. From the very first chapter it is packed with emotion, humor, and tons of heat. Sutton is an amazing character.Read more ›

Ms. James consistently brings the power and the passion in her stories. No one can write contemporary erotic western romances like her. Her alpha cowboys always get me riled up and needing a cold shower. The chemistry is ALWAYS there, the steam factor is ALWAYS off the charts, and the emotional pull from each character ALWAYS drags me in and never lets go. Sutton Grant is yet another sexy as sin, delicious cowboy who has been in a rut ever since his injury a while back. London Gradsky is a kick ass cowgirl who has been scorned, and she can't quite let go. Sutton has something London needs and London has something Sutton needs. Sutton needs a trainer for his stubborn horse, and London needs a man by her side to save face. A deal is struck, but no one is thinking of the consequences. When there is no more training to be done, and no more jealousy to be had, where does that leave the two? Do they go their separate ways, or do they cave in to their true feelings for one another?
Roped In is just another example of how Ms. James can capture a reader's heart with just a few chapters. Short, sweet, and hella steamy, Sutton and London's love story will have you blushing and laughing the whole way through.

Fast, fun and filled with Texas-style snark. Believable characters, dialogue and story line. Easy to follow and fall in love with the people, aside from Paige the Beauty Twit.
I will re-read this story and always look forward to, pre-order when possible, new works by this author.

Woohoo , another fantastic Blacktop Cowboy story. Lorelie James knows her cowboys and makes you want to know them too. This story could of been 500 pages and not been long enough.

Have to say the men in the Blacktop Cowboy series are seriously steppin up to the plate to give them McKay’s a run for top swoon worthy. Sutton Grant was wonderful surprise of a man. You have a man who has been a world champion bulldogger and instead of being a man ho he’s known as The Saint and in some ways is pretty shy about the limelight and could care less about banging buckle bunnies. But once we see how the man kisses and loves a give a little spanking in the bedroom – that there is a darn close to perfect man in my humble opinion.
As I sit here I can seriously find no fault with this book. The romance, story and the two worlds of rodeo and guns were perfectly written. I believe both of those subjects are things the author is big fans of and it showed in the book.

Lorelei James has done it again. She has created characters that you fall in love with. If you have not read this series this is a wonderful introduction to the series. Blacktop Cowboys is a wonderful series to read. You laugh, cry, and get mad with everyone of the characters and Sutton and Landon fall right in. All I can say is here is another strong woman who had no chance against the handsome, sexy, gentleman cowboy.

Sutton Grant was a pleasant surprise. I didn’t not like him when we first met him in Turn and Burn, Fletch and Tanna’s book, but in comparison to Fletch and even Eli ~ sigh, yes I have a burning to desire to know more about Muddy Gap’s resident horse whisperer ~ he just couldn’t hold a candle to either of them, but in Roped In, he definitely gives those two hot men, as well as my ultimate favorite BTC cowboy a run for his money. He’s sweet, sexy and insightful, something that was shown in T & B, and just has that it factor that would make anyone want him as their personal book boyfriend.
London Gradsky is an absolute spitfire of a woman, and I was offended for her with how she was treated not only by her ex-Stitch but his new woman. Tough as nails with no edit button, she’d be someone I’d want on my side in a verbal smackdown. She cracked me up and introduced me to a new term, douche nozzle. So when she and Sutton meet up again there is no question that things will get interesting.
The chemistry between them is explosive and hot. I’ll never think of a gun range in the same way ever again An ornery horse, and a plot to get back at the ex, may have put them in close quarters, but soon they find they compliment each other, despite their differences, and fit in more ways than one.
I wish this was longer, the downside of novellas, but if you’ve never read the Blacktop Cowboys series, you can definitely read this as a standalone and not feel like you were missing pieces, though I believe that you should definitely read all the books because there are a few things alluded to that you won’t catch unless you have.
