About the Author

Cindy Woodsmall is a New York Times, USA Today, and CBA best-selling author. She has published fourteen works of fiction and one nonfiction book. Her connection with the Amish community has been widely featured in national media outlets. Cindy and her husband reside near the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains in their now-empty nest.

More About the Author

Cindy Woodsmall is a New York Times, CBA, ECPA, and USA Today best-selling author who has written a dozen (and counting!) works of fiction and one of nonfiction. She and her dearest Old Order Amish friend, Miriam Flaud, coauthored the nonfiction, Plain Wisdom: An Invitation into an Amish Home and the Hearts of Two Women. Cindy has been featured on ABC Nightline and on the front page of the Wall Street Journal, and has worked with National Geographic on a documentary concerning Amish life. In June of 2013, the Wall Street Journal listed Cindy as the one of the top three most popular authors of Amish fiction.

She's a veteran homeschool mom who no longer holds that position. As her children progressed in age, her desire to write grew stronger. After working through reservations whether this desire was something she should pursue, she began her writing journey. Her husband was her staunchest supporter as she aimed for what seemed impossible.

She's won Fiction Book of the Year, Reviewer's Choice Awards, Inspirational Reader's Choice Contest, as well as one of Crossings' Best Books of the Year. She's been a finalist for the prestigious Christy, Rita, and Carol Awards, Christian Book of the Year, and Christian Retailers Choice Awards.

Her real-life connections with Amish Mennonite and Old Order Amish families enrich her novels with authenticity. Though she didn't realize it at the time, seeds were sown years ago that began preparing Cindy to write these books. At the age of ten, while living in the dairy country of Maryland, she became best friends with Luann, a Plain Mennonite girl. Luann, like all the females in her family, wore the prayer Kapp and cape dresses. Her parents didn't allow television or radios, and many other modern conveniences were frowned upon. During the numerous times Luann came to Cindy's house to spend the night, her rules came with her and the two were careful to obey them--afraid that if they didn't, the adults would end their friendship. Although the rules were much easier to keep when they spent the night at Luann's because her family didn't own any of the forbidden items, both sets of parents were uncomfortable with the relationship and a small infraction of any kind would have been enough reason for the parents to end the relationship. While navigating around the adults' disapproval and the obstacles in each other's lifestyle, the two girls bonded in true friendship that lasted into their teen years, until Cindy's family moved to another region of the US.

As an adult, Cindy became friends with a wonderful Old Order Amish family who opened their home to her. Although the two women, Miriam and Cindy, live seven hundred miles apart geographically, and a century apart by customs, when they come together they never lack for commonality, laughter, and dreams of what only God can accomplish through His children. Over the years Cindy has continued to make wonderful friendships with those inside the Amish and Mennonite communities--from the most conservative ones to the most liberal.

Cindy and her husband reside near the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains in their now empty nest.

This was a good book, a wonderful series, and I am very sad to see it end.

I have read several books by Cindy Woodsmall and though they are not what I consider "typical" Amish fiction, I have enjoyed every one I have read.

Cindy Woodsmall certainly has me hooked on these characters. There's Rhoda (the canning expert with a keen intuition) and Samuel (Rhoda's ex-fiance's brother and her business partner) and their very complicated romance. Will Jacob (Samuel's brother, Rhoda's ex-fiance, & the other business partner in the Orchard Bend Farms) ever return to Maine and can they ever get his approval to be married? Then there is Landon (the Englischer who has always been Rhoda's assistant) and Leah (little sister of Samuel and Jacob) and their secret love. How can their relationship ever work? Last but not least are the other founding members of the new Orchard Bend Old Order Amish settlement- Stephen (Rhoda's brother) and his wife Phoebe (and their children of course). Will Stephen be in trouble for all of the chaos brewing in Orchard Bend?

On reason I enjoy Woodsmall's writing is that she always has unique twists and turns. Some author's use a pattern for every book and so the mysteries become too simple to figure out after you've read a couple of their works. Woodsmall's books always keep me guessing until the very end and I enjoy that. She also portrays Amish life in a unique way. All of her characters are not living "traditional" Amish lives. The smooth blend of her writing along with her very gentle read romances (really not romance novels at all- just stories that include folks that happen to fall in love) make her books a joy to read. If you haven't read the latest installment in the Amish Orchards and Vines series or if you haven't read any of them- get your hands on it now! Perfect vacation reads!

I enjoyed a free copy of this book from Waterbrook Multnomah for the purpose of review. All opinions are my own.

Seasons of Tomorrow: Book Four in the Amish Vines and Orchards Series , continues the intricate web of relationships among the members of the new Amish Community in Orchard Bend, Maine and their ties to those from their previous Pennsylvania communities. Leah’s exploration of Christianity outside of the Amish community has many in the Amish community nervous. When Leah’s father in Pennsylvania learns of her involvement with Englischer Landon Olson, he explodes. His demands to insist all members in the Maine community adhere to the Ordnung, the rules the Amish agree to live by, causes stress and pain to all members of the struggling community
.
Meanwhile, Rhoda Byler hesitantly slips into a comfortable relationship with Samuel King as they work side by side, after the recent breakup with his brother. Samuel’s brother, Jacob King, hurt after the breakup with Rhoda leaves the farm to nurse his wound. His escapade in Virginia introduces interesting characters into the story. Readers will find this new vein in the series engaging. An unforeseen incident causes Jacob to return to the farm and the pain of seeing Rhoda with his brother.

Cindy Woodsmall’s Seasons of Tomorrow: Book Four in the Amish Vines and Orchards Series plot twists, addition of new characters, tension between the various love interests, as well as those questioning some aspects of the Ordnung, gives Amish fiction fans plenty to savor.

Seasons of Tomorrow is the fourth and final book in the Amish Vines and Orchards series. I have been waiting to read the ending to this series for a long time, and I am happy to say it lived up to what I hoped it would be and so much more!

This book picks up right where the last left off. Rhoda and Samuel have finally discovered their love for each other. Jacob has left Maine and has been healing his wounded heart and moving on. Leah is still trying to figure out exactly who she is and if she wants to remain Amish, or leave the community and join the English. We are introduced to a few new characters, and a few mentions of characters in the past come into play.

Like all of the books in this series, things in Maine are never easy. Just when they think life has settled for them, and they are finally starting to get a hand up on their new life and new Orchard. Life throws them for several more spins, that will test their friendships, love as well as themselves.

Although all the books have had little bits of romance between the different characters, the main romance in all the previous books was the love triangle between Rhoda, Samuel and Jacob. Seasons of Tomorrow, gives us a fun change up on things, and we get more involved the the love between Leah and Landon. Cindy Woodsmall, also takes us on a new adventure with Jacob, as he is mending his heart, and contemplating if he will ever be able to open it up to another again.

Filled with heartache and pains of the past and present. Combined with hopes, dreams and promises of the future. Seasons of Tomorrow brings us into an entirely new tide of circumstances and trials. That will bring your heart right into the lives of the Orchard Bend Amish characters we have all grown to love.

My Thoughts On The Book: This fourth book in the series centers with the Amish families who moved to Orchard Bend, Maine and I loved it! Cindy Woodsmall is quite the wordsmith and storyteller. It seems that each new season seems to bring new trials and tribulations. In this book I found that Rhoda seemed to be more settled and her love for Samuel grows stronger every day. The question is will Jacob drive a wedge between the two of them. Samuel's baby sister,Leah is battling with a life choice of remaining Amish or leaving the church and attending an Englisher church. This choice is working against Landon and her and their budding love. Jacob finally sees that Rhoda is not the one for him, but he has to find a path to follow that will lead him to true love. The family works together, struggles, divides, and finally the family comes together when Phoebe becomes very ill and has to be in the hospital for a long time. I have read all three of the other books in this series and loved them all. While you can enjoy this book as a stand-alone book it makes it much more enjoyable and easier to understand if you read the series in order. Once you start this book you will not want to put it down.
