From the Back Cover

In a steamy small town riddled with broken promises, one woman's secret could change everything.

Acting Sheriff Ben Logan hasn't heard from Leigh Somerall in a very long time, but it doesn't mean he can get her--or their whirlwind romance of ten years ago--out of his head. When she calls out of the blue, it is with a strange request to protect her brother, Tony. But all too soon, Ben is charged with a different task--protecting Leigh from the people after her brother. With Leigh doing everything in her power to avoid Ben, it's no easy task. And the secret she is keeping just may change their lives forever.

"A taut story of mistakes and betrayal, a mother's fierce love, revenge and danger--and the redeeming wonders of faith and love."--Lorena McCourtney, author of the Cate Kinkaid Files and the Ivy Malone Mysteries

"Old secrets, second chances at love, and a skillfully crafted small-town suspense. You will fall in love with Ben and Leigh and cheer them on as they fight for their happy ending. I'm making room on my shelf for all of Patricia Bradley's novels!"--Susan May Warren, bestselling and award-winning author of When I Fall in Love

The story begins with a gunshot to Tony Somerall’s head in a hotel room minutes before Ben Logan shows up, supposedly to meet Tony. From that moment on, Bradley keeps the reader on her toes with houses blowing up, cars blowing up, a house ransacked, among a number of high intensity moments written to keep you turning the pages.

What would a story be without a past? Leigh and Ben dated about ten years ago and went their separate ways with no explanation. Leigh and Ben fell into temptation and parted ways not long after. Much to Ben’s dismay, he didn’t know it was his father, Tom Logan, who told Leigh to keep her distance because he believed she wasn’t good enough for his son. So of course, there is a little bit of shakiness around the two as they try to figure out who wants Leigh and her nine-year-old son, TJ, dead.

A Promise to Protect, Logan Point Series #2 - By: Patricia Bradley The story is filled with twists and turn at every corner. Bradley creates a compelling story that grips you from the first chapter and holds you breathless to the end. Acting sheriff Ben Logan was a type of hero that you would want to investigate any crime that affected your life. He’s smart, handsome, and quick on his feet. On the other hand, Leigh has too much of an independent streak in her. Now don’t get me wrong. That isn’t a bad thing for her character because she needs to be independent to raise her son, but she fears getting hurt by Logan again, so she doesn’t want him to be around to help her.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who reads or writes suspense books. It kept me on my toes, even though I pretty much guessed who the antagonist is before the end of the book.

I received a free copy of A Promise to Protect from Revell publishing and all my opinions are my own.

Sheriff Ben Logan and Dr. Leigh Somerall dated years ago, ten to be exact. When Tony, Leigh’s brother was shot and died in Ben’s arms, he promised Tony he would look after Leigh and her young son. He does everything in his power to protect her but she wants to keep her distance. It seems that every time they turn around someone is after Leigh. From break-ins to arson, bombs and snakes Leigh and her son TJ find danger around ever corner. Can Ben and Leigh find a second chance at love or will well hidden secrets destroyand keep them apart.
The author Patricia Bradley is a new author to me. I found her novel to be well written with extremely well developed characters. A Promise to Protect is full of action and intrigue with romance thrown in. The author’s faith shines through out the novel. The combination of endless action, fast pace and suspense equals a 5 star book sure to keep you at the edge of your seat.
The author Patricia Bradley and publisher Revell hit it out the ball park with this faith filled novel. Thank you for bringing compelling Christian books that are entertaining and give hope to the reader with stories of faith. I was provided with this book in exchange for my honest review and I am so grateful for the authors and publishers generosity.

When I picked up A Promise to Protect, I was a bit worried that my foggy memory of book one (Shadows of the Past) in the Logan Point series by Patricia Bradley might cause me to forget how the various characters were related, but I am happy to report that while the setting is the same, the characters from book one do not directly influence the story of book two. I was not missing any pertinent history and/or context – A Promise to Protect can be read as a stand-alone title (although, if you enjoy it as I do, you will find yourself wanting to read the others in this series).

Patricia Bradley did an excellent job of engaging the reader in the story within the first several pages. I attempted to start reading this while in the same room as my three kids, and I found myself absorbed in the story in spite of the constant interruptions. The characters were easy to relate to, had solid depth, and had the reader rooting for justice to be done.

One of the things I loved the most about A Promise to Protect was the fact that, while you might have a suspicion, you didn’t know for sure who the villain was until the very end. It is a difficult task to present enough clues to the villain’s identity without revealing it, and Patricia Bradley did an excellent job doing so.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Oh. My. Word. This book is amazing.

This story revolves around the two main characters, Leigh and Ben. The two were an item one summer about ten years ago, but Leigh left town and Ben moved on with his life (sorta). Leigh has returned to Logan Point with her son for, what she hopes, is a temporary job.

Almost as soon as Leigh returns to town, bad things begin to happen. First her brother is murdered, and then a long list of crimes begin to stack up around town. Ben just happens to be the sheriff and has promised Leigh's brother that he will protect her.

This book has so many twists and turns, you just can't make yourself put it down. Just when you think you have figured out who is committing all the crimes, something else comes up and changes everything.

The same is true with Ben and Leigh's relationship. There is a deep history there that begins to reveal itself as this story unfolds. There is hurt and confusion, but also an attraction that the reader can't help but notice.

It's hard to talk about this book without including spoilers, but the story will hook you in the first chapter and keep you wanting more until the very last sentence.
