Welcome back to the Shadowlands with all your favorite members in tow. Cherise Sinclair spins a deliciously erotic and heartwarming story about a woman who wants nothing more than to forget her past, and the man who wants nothing but to be a part of her future. Both had mentors who steered them off course. A Dom learns that he is no less of a man if he crumbles and needs the strength of his submissive to pull him through the darkness. A submissive learns that she can't run from her past. She needs to be strong and face it head on and not let it define her. Show Me, Baby by Cherise Sinclair was an incredibly sexy, endearing, and thought provoking read that hit pretty close to home for me. I related to Rainie in multiple ways, and Jake, what can I say, he is a Shadowlands Master, which means he is gorgeous, protective, tricky, and sexy as hell! I can never get enough of Ms. Sinclair's stories. She always goes straight for the reader's heart, demanding that they fall in love with the wonderful characters that she brings to life.

I've been wanting to read about Jake ever since he turned up in a snippet Cherise wrote as a blog post where he did a role-play with the blog's reporter as Santa. He just seemed to have a real fun side to him, and this is again evident in his and Rainie's story Show Me Baby. Some of her stories have a harder edge (especially ones about sadists!) but this one was lighter. Rainie did have some significant hangups and we found that Jake did, also. Part of it was due to well-intentioned but poor guidance from their respective mentors. In Rainie's case, she suffered a string of losses and hurts that made it very hard for her to trust her emotions to anyone. She is open and loving and supportive of others but can't seem to accept that she is worth the same care from them in return. When Jake finally has his eyes opened to the problem, he forces her to face her demons. It is a love story with a Dom who is more than just a rich handsome guy, and a BBW who loves easily despite having been hurt badly. Along the way to their HEA are some rip-snorting BDSM scenes as only Cherise can write them, some really funny moments at a batchelor and batchelorette night and a double wedding, and a couple of really satisfying smackdowns.

I had worries about it being a novella, because Cherise's Masters of the Shadowlands books have tended to be fairly long, but it is a fully developed story and a satisfying read. All of our favorite characters from the Shadowlands appear at least briefly. This story can hold its head up with other books in the series, given that it is a novella.

Thanks Cherise, for another great couple!

Show Me, Baby is another wonderful addition to the Masters of the Shadowlands series by the incomparable Cherise Sinclair.
Rainie has given up on her dream of finding a Dom of her own and plans to move away from Florida as soon as she saves up enough money. She is desperate to escape her miserable past as an unwanted child who ended up on the streets at age 16.
Jake has earned his title as Master at the Shadowlands by being an excellent Dom. When he takes Rainie to train, he doesn't realize how much her past affects her. He learns about it in fits and starts as they embark on a relationship that burns up the sheets.
Can a former slum rat find happiness with a wealthy veterinarian and can he overlook her past enough to open up to what Rainie needs?
I loved both the main characters: Rainie is smart, brave, and tough when she has to be, but compassionate and nuturing under the tough exterior. Jake-what's not to love? He's handsome, sexy, caring, and even willing to work on his own issues, not just Rainies'. He takes charge in the bedroom, but the rest of the time she makes her own decisions.
Overall a truly great read by an immensely talented author.

I'm seriously impressed by how much she was able to pack into this "novella." Others would consider this a full length book, but if you're familiar with the Shadowlands series, you know this is significantly shorter than her normal works. I really liked the character development of both Rainie and Jake, and Rainie has been one of my favorite characters for a few books now. I appreciate that the other characters had their cameos, and some of them long-awaited happy endings. I think Sinclair does a great job of weaving aspects of other couples' storylines into the story, which helps prevent things from bogging down or becoming tedious (a prime example would be Kari and Dan post-baby in Sally, Galen and Vance's story). But the main characters here are great, you want to knock both of their heads' together a few times while reading, and of course Master Psyche-man Z comes through with his all-knowingness in the end (with some help from Cullen, who I love). Overall, an excellent read!

As this series has progressed now to the 9th book the emotional depth of each one also has increased. These aren’t just about Master’s and Subs, they are about the people behind those roles – their jobs, their friends, their at times heartbreaking pasts that have messed with their heads and self images of themselves.

Jake and Rainie story also had the bonus of Gabi and Marcus and Sally, Galen and Vance's bachelor/bachelorette parties and their combined weddings. Most of the previous characters also make appearances with Master Z still being his meddling self : ) . Always great to be back with the gang from Shadowlands and Cherise never disappoints in her stories.
