The impact of first impressions is well demonstrated by Brunstetter's delightful collection of characters in her latest Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club story. Mending tattered lives, miraculous transformations, faith and friendship abound in this sequel that can stand alone. While not her typical Amish tale, the heartwarming scenes, family values and convincing characters still make the reader a part of the story - and the quilting club.
(Leslie L. McKee RT Book Reviews 2013-09-01)
It was a highly satisfying read nonetheless and I will definitely be buying a print copy to add to my collection of feel-good and heart-warming books which I read several times.
(Sian Williams The Garden Window 2013-08-09)
Brunstetter draws you in to the inner circle of her characters, making you feel like you are part of the quilting class. You long to join a group of misfits, learn the art of quilting, and possibly come out with a whole new group of friends, or at least new acquaintances.
(Shondra Brown The Christian Manifesto 2013-08-27)
This is the second book in this series by Ms. Brunstetter and I loved it. As a matter of fact, I didn’t have the pleasure of reading book one, but after reading this one I’m definitely going to read it now. I loved the storyline and the characters were completely believable to me. I also loved how everyone learned a lesson or two by working together, no matter if they were English or Amish. This author pens wonderful stories that transport you into every setting she creates. I’ve read a few books by this author in the past and each time she never disappointed me. If you love Amish stories and are looking for an enjoyable story to lose yourself in, than look no further.

THE TATTERED QUILT really pulls at your heart strings. I was instantly caught up in the characters’ lives. It was almost as if I were sitting at the table with them and we were all friends. Wanda's novels always leave me thinking about the choices I have made in my own life and how I can be a better person. I look forward to reading more of this heartfelt series.
(Susan Dyer Fresh Fiction 2013-09-30)
Wanda Brunstetter is never a disappointment and has done it again. She takes six people from all walks of life, throws them together to learn how to quilt.
The book was a delight to read and I loved the ending. I definitely did not see it coming and I love surprise endings. I loved it!

Book Description
Members of a new patchwork group of students in Emma’s quilting class find friendship, faith, healing, and restoration while gathered around their quilts, under the Father’s guiding hands—for only He can take what’s ragged and shabby from the lives of His children and turn it into beauty for His glory.
Wanda Brunstetter is an award-winning romance novelist who has led millions of readers to lose their heart in the Amish life. She is the author of over 60 books with more than 7 million copies sold. Many of her books have landed on the top bestseller lists, including the New York Times, USA Today, Publisher's Weekly, CBA, ECPA, and CBD. Wanda is considered one of the founders of the Amish fiction genre, and her work has been covered by national publications, including Time Magazine and USA Today.
Wanda's fascination with the Amish culture developed when she met her husband, Richard, who grew up in a Mennonite church, and whose family has a Pennsylvania Dutch heritage. Meeting her new Mennonite sister-in-laws caused Wanda to yearn for the simpler life. In their travels, she and her husband have become close friends with many Amish people across America. Wanda's desire to explore their culture increased when she discovered that her great-great grandparents were part of the Anabaptist faith.
All of Wanda's novels are based on personal research intended to accurately portray the Amish way of life. Many of her books are well-read and trusted by the Amish, who credit her for giving readers a deeper understanding of the people and their customs.
Wanda's primary attraction to the Amish is their desire to live a devout Christian life that strives to honor God, work hard, and maintain close family ties. Whenever she visits her Amish friends, Wanda finds herself drawn to their peaceful lifestyle, sincerity, and close family ties, which is in stark contrast to the chaos and busyness that plagues so many modern "Englishers." Time and time again, Wanda loses her heart in the Amish life, and she hopes her readers will, too. For more information, visit: www.WandaBrunstetter.com
Ms. Brunstetter has a magical way of making her characters come to life and feel like we are involved in the story and this one is no different.
Emma Yoder Miller and her newlywed husband, Lamar are offering a new Quilting Class that consists of six sessions and takes place in their home, they have done this in the past but this is a new one.
Six members of the class are all meeting at the first session and each are entirely different then the others and so are their reasons for joining. Anna's mother has signed her up although she has no interest in attending. Carmen is taking the class to help her complete her work as a reporter on the Amish. Blaine lost a fishing bet and has to take the class. Selma who is a busybody was given the class as a gift. Cheryl wants to have a quilt repaired for her Grandmothers 85th birthday and decides to take the class also. Last is Terry a roofer who has long hair and smokes and seems to be annoying almost everyone in the group by his appearance and his smoke smell.
As the classes continue we see how each of these people are opening up and telling secrets from their past and hoping to change things in their present life. In addition to quilting advice Emma and Lamar are their to offer hope, inspiration and the practices of God and how he can help heal broken hearts, show forgiveness and even forgetting the past and moving on.
It is a wonderful story and you will be so happy that you choose this story as it is definitely worth the read.

Well Wanda has done it again could it be possible to write another 5 star book half as good as The half Stitched Amish Quilting Club! The answer is Yes, this one was just as good and I loved every one of the characters in this one. I would love to take a quilting class at Emma's house. I have a very good friend who loves to quilt and I thought of her with each turn of the page she is not Amish but she could teach a class with the heart of Emma. I HIGHLY recommend this 5 star book. I enjoyed it so much I hated to see it end. Speaking of the end oh boy just you wait. Who knows maybe Wanda will write a third book in this series. I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest review. Thank you Wanda.

Becoming involved through reading the lives of the characters of this book brought insight into the relationships of people but also the importance of not judging someone by their appearance or lifestyle. The author always manages to teach us important values we Need to remember and use in our daily lives.

Emma and Lamar Miller put their vacation in Pinecraft, Florida on hold. Emma felt the need to remain in their Amish community in Shipshewana, Indiana to teach another 6-week quilting class. As in the past the class filled up quickly, and the Millers were once again put to the challenge. The students were as tattered as the old quilt that one of the students brought to Emma for repairs. Was it possible that those six people could find restoration and peace through the process of quilting? As a custom, the Millers prayed for each of their students as the weeks passed by, and lives would be changed through their compassion and prayer, and unexpected events.
This series of books is quite different from what we're accustomed to in Wanda Brunstetter's writing style. I'm finding this series to be very entertaining, refreshing and amusing. She has added numerous elements to these stories that reveal many facets of our society, and she blends them with the Amish tradition in a very unique way. Wanda is very familiar with Northern Indiana, and has made numerous Amish friends over the years. Her sense of humor comes through in this series in a way I have found very enjoyable. There are numerous plots interwoven throughout "The Tattered Quilt," and the characters are as varied as the quilt designs found in the area. Faith, hope and compassion are very strong currents that run throughout the lessons in quilting and the lives of these characters. Pick up the entire series and relax and enjoy the entertainment these books offer! I thoroughly enjoyed "The Tattered Quilt" as much as I enjoyed "The Half-Stitched Amish Quilting Club." In addition, if you have the opportunity, be sure to see the musical based on the first book in the series. It is outstanding!Read more ›
