About the Author

USA Today bestselling author Terry Spear has written over two dozen paranormal romance novels and medieval Highland historical romances. More About the Author

USA TODAY bestselling, and award-winning author and creator of award-winning teddy bears who have found homes all over the world including Australia, Switzerland, China, and Russia, and a retired officer of the US Army Reserves, I love to plant trees and flowers and if I could, I'd turn all the deserts green. Time travels are my favorite read, although I love to read most anything, and the Bourne series, Romancing the Stone, Sixth Sense, Legend, The Princess Bride, Stardust, Inkheart, LOTR, and tons of other movies are my favorites.

I love to research, to make urban fantasy worlds real, to bring a little of the paranormal into our world. Even in "Winning the Highlander's Heart" the heroine feels she is cursed and she has second sight. But I try to do it in a way that feels real, and not fantasized. :) Currently, I'm working on book 2 of the new jaguar shifter series, but still am working on wolf book number 12 and 13! So more hunky wolves to come! A SEAL in Wolf's Clothing has just released.

I really loved how the story evolved into a sweet romance for any time of the year.

These books can be read as a standalone so Calla’s wedding debacle is very easily explained for those who are just starting the series out with this book.

A Highland Wolf Christmas by Terry Spear
Paranormal Romance -Oct. 7th, 2014
4 stars

Calla Stewart is a werewolf that had found the wrong boyfriend. Another werewolf that is trying to force her to become his mate. Realizing her mistake almost too late, she flees before her wedding and is soon hunted by his pack. But another werewolf from another clan she is friendly with comes to her rescue. His name is Guthrie MacNeill. Guthrie is sexy and can’t help finding Calla attractive, too. But Guthrie has loved and lost. Burned by another woman, he isn’t ready to open his heart again. But when Calla’s ex keeps trying to get her back Guthrie can’t help riding to the rescue. Soon they find that although they both deny they want a real relationship they can’t help enjoying each other’s company. But to act on those needs will mean they are mated for life. Will they find love despite themselves or will they lose this chance to find their heart’s desire.

This was exciting from the very beginning. It begins with Calla fleeing from her ex. I liked that as soon as she realized her ex was not the man she thought he was, she refused to mate with him. Even though he brings his packmates to ‘convince’ her! Calla and Guthrie and meant for each other but the timing isn’t exactly perfect. Calla is still sore from her bully of an ex and Guthrie is still licking his wounds from an unfaithful woman he thought he loved. But to their friends, their attraction is obvious and so the matchmaking begins! It was fun to read their well intentioned friends throw them together subtly and not so subtly. As Calla’s ex tries to get her back, Guthrie is there for her. And the contrast between them makes it obvious how good Guthrie is in comparison.

We are back in the Scottish Highlands, and Guthrie, the final wolf/ man standing out of the 4 MacNeill brothers, is getting his shot at a HEA!

Calla Stewart has known the MacNeills for many years- she was best friends with Guthrie’s brother Cearnach as a child but Guthrie has always been attracted to her. Thinking that Cearnach wanted to claim her for himself, Guthrie always kept his distance. After moving away years ago and returning to the Highlands recently, Calla recently walked out of her own wedding to the alpha of a rival clan who is not taking it well. So she is seeking refuge at the MacNeill’s castle while she plans their holiday festivities for them and hopes that her ex will give up and go away.

Guthrie has always come across as the quiet, serious, numbers driven one in the family so I was happy to see him finally get to show a more playful, passionate side. Calla is more than a great match for him- she is a successful business owner, smart, strong, and independent with a mischievous side of her own. Through all the drama with her ex-fiance Baird trying to make life miserable as he tries to convince her to come back to him, Guthrie and Calla find time to have some fun and a few private heated moments along the way. The matchmaking attempts by the rest of the MacNeill clan provided some humorous moments as well.

The story is more about romance than sex since wolves mate for life and full-on sex is not an option until they are ready to take that lifelong step, but there is plenty that can happen along the way without going there- and it definitely does!! Overall I thought this was another enjoyable read from Terry Spear.

A HIGHLAND WOLF CHRISTMAS is a wonderfully sweet holiday romance stock full of kilted Scotsmen (well more like Scotswerewolves) who relish in sword fighting and castles with many a hidden nook to have your romantic trysts underneath a mistletoe. Both Calla and Guthrie are featured in previous book in this series so it was neat to finally see more of these two and learn about their lives. These books can be read as a standalone so Calla’s wedding debacle is very easily explained for those who are just starting the series out with this book.

The plot is well paced with some fun action scenes in it. Calla is a strong and independent business woman so naturally having Guthrie being her bodyguard leads to some annoyances on Calla’s part. My favorite fight scenes revolve around some hilarious hijinks Guthrie gets involved in at a few of Calla’s parties. I liked the little twist involving Calla’s ex as I spent most of the story thinking that his stalking was a simple case of being a jilted fiance who is just very obsessive about wanting her back.

Calla and Guthrie make an adorable couple and I kept rooting for these two to make up their minds already about their feelings for eachother. Both of them are reeling from their past relationships and have to come to terms with what they went through. They eventually work out their issues through some very playful and sweet flirting that eventually leads to much more.

HIGHLAND WOLF CHRISTMAS is a perfectly sexy Scottish werewolf romance that will get you into the Christmas spirit no matter what the season you read it in.
