Carrie Slayton was tired of reporting for the society pages. She wanted a story that can make a difference. Then a chance to prove herself fell into her lap. If she can find and interview the reclusive author, Finn Dalton, she can have any story she wanted. But when Carrie found Finn, she realized she could fall for this man. But they were from two different worlds. Plus with Finn's hatred towards women and reporters, will they have a chance at love?
Loved it. Sweet, simple and refreshing. This book will be a walk down memory lane as Macomber returns to good, old-fashioned romance. I couldn't put this book down, waiting to see what would happen next. However, the plot can be predictable. So if you are expecting something different, this was not it. The writing was well done as always. The plot was well paced. There wasn't much drama, with a little humor here and there. The characters were likeable, straight and true. (I wasn't a fan of Carrie's friend though. She was little too interfering.) The heroine truly made this story. Carrie had a good head on her shoulders and honest to a fault. I had to respect her. And Finn was just yummy.
In my opinion, the price is a little steep for a run-of-the-mill romance. However, if you are a collector of the author's books, it is definitely worth getting getting the hardcover version for the holiday season and would be a perfect stocking stuffer for a fellow reader. Everyone else? Might I suggest waiting for the paperback version. I only gave it 4 stars since I don't have the urge to reread it. But the story does stay with you and definitely becomes a keeper. If you are into sweet, clean romances, get this book when you can. Fans (especially ones who like the Midnight Sons series) will not be disappointed with this holiday read.

I love Christmas. I've been a bit down in the dumps lately especially during this hot, dry summer we've been having. STARRY NIGHT by Debbie Macomber transported me to another climate and season just when I needed it most. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters in this fun, quick-paced holiday novel. They seemed real to me and although the premeise was a bit far-fetched I had a blast going to Alaska and Chicago in winter, in my mind, to help me beat the summer blues. I could also probably use a little romance in my own pathetic life so I found the storyline entertaining and also a bit hopeful. I hadn't read a "holiday novel" in a long time and STARRY NIGHT reminded me how much I enjoy them, no matter the time of year. In fact, after I completed this novel I went to the local bookstore and searched out a few other Christmas books. I even bought another by the same author. I recommend this light, frosty holiday confection to readers of all ages. A fun and festive read.

I really enjoyed reading the Cedar Cove series and several of Debbie's other books but this was so unlike her other work I had to go back to make sure I got the author right!
Little to do with Christmas, insane that two people who do not even like each other are completely in love in 24 hours and build a relationship on that skimpy start.
Neither character had any depth and the story was shallow and predictable. A real disappointment.

Sorry, here's a one star review. This was about as trite a "novel" as I've read in a long time. Absolutely predictable. Did anyone have any doubt that as much as Finn hated Carrie at first, and as much as Carrie hated Finn at first...guess what, they would end up idolizing one another, and after being together what appears to be two and a half days. So Point one: too predictable. Point two: why is this called a "Christmas" novel? Is every novel whose action happens in November/December a "Christmas" novel? Not quite. And Point three (and most intriguing), did Carrie go two and a half days without using the bathroom? Where was it in that one room cabin? May be that Point three is most important of all!

I just love Ms. Macomber’s books. She has a way of writing a story that you can just get lost in which what is happened to me here. I was only going to read for about 10 minutes when I lost track of time. An hour and a half later I looked up and realized I was already over half finished with this lovely romance.
Carrie Slayton wants to be more than a society-page columnist. So her boss finally gives her a chance. What she has to do is find the elusive Finn Dalton and get an interview with him. Well after searching high and low she finally finds him in the remote Alaskan wilderness.
Finn’s mother left him when he was little and it scarred him emotionally. After living in Alaska all his life he has some wonderful stories about surviving in the wilderness. What he never realized is that his book will be such a hit and that reporters would try to find him. Now Carrie has shown up at his door and because of the weather is stuck in his cabin for a few days. Carrie slowly begins to understand Finn and starts to fall for him…
