Review

"Elliot's best work to date. The author's talent is evident in the character's wit and smart dialogue...One wouldn't necessarily think a psychological thriller and romance would mesh together well, but Elliot knows what she's doing when she turns readers' minds inside out and then softens the blow with an unforgettable love story." —RT Book Reviews, 4 1/2 Stars, Top Pick

Vanished by Kendra Elliot is the fifth book in the Bone Secrets series, following the earlier installments - Hidden (Bone Secrets #1), Chilled (Bone Secrets #2), Buried (Bone Secrets #3) and Alone (Bone Secrets #4). Bridged - the sixth installment in the Bone Secrets series is scheduled for January 2015 publication. Kendra Elliot’s romantic suspense mystery thrillers are simply entertaining and make for an enjoyable read.

In Vanished, detective Mason Callahan of the Oregon Police's Major Crimes Unit is going through a period of personal upheaval. Two incidents which are directly connected to him take place within a short span of time. His confidential informant Josie is found brutally murdered and the eleven-year-old daughter of his ex-wife’s new husband is abducted. Mason is under scrutiny, and he is being attacked on the professional front. As Mason tries to deal with the situations both personal and professional, he finds an unlikely ally in Special Agent Ava McLane of the FBI who is embedded with the family of the kidnapped girl to get to the bottom of it.

Kendra Elliot’s Vanished has written a thriller with which there is no dull moment. Mason and Ava work together trying to trace the kidnappers and bring home Henley safely home. A storm of feeling is also blowing as Masan and Ava get close to each other. Author Kendra Elliot has skillfully handled the plot twists and turns. What I particularly like about the series is the one-word titles which I find unique. All books in the series can be read as a standalone. If you enjoy romantic suspense or mystery thriller, Vanished is mostly likely to draw you in.

Absolutely loved it! I read the first book in the Bone Secrets series by this author and didn't really love it. I didn't dislike it, I just wasn't really drawn into it. This story was so much better in my opinion. The story was in the genre of police/FBI procedural. There was some suspense, a nice romance, and many twist and turns within this wonderfully convoluted plot. I thought the storyline was very believable and realistic, and the characters were likable and easy to connect to. I love how much self realization Mason goes through and how he grows throughout the book. He and Ava make a good match because they seem to totally and instantly understand each other even though they are both a mystery to the other people in their lives. Also, without giving out spoilers, I will just say that the way the dog figures into the storyline is really great.

The Bones Lady has done it again! Kendra spins a tale as smooth as silk, soft as velvet and comes up with a storm.

The disappearance of an 11-year-old girl brings FBI agent Ava McLane and local detective Mason Callahan under one roof. For Callahan, this is personal, as the missing girl happens to be the stepdaughter of his ex-wife.

Two mothers, two dads and another's child!!! The Fairbanks family is no screaming divorce family from TV, everyone gets along well with each other.... stepdad has positive things to say about cop dad.

So what is the motive for Henley Fairbanks being kidnapped? And that is the `323 page' question. I have to admit that Kendra did a brilliant job of keeping that suspense until it was time to be revealed. Each page was a revelation of bits and pieces of information as the law enforcement tries to piece the puzzle together. And as the puzzle starts to fall into place, the emotions and secrets of the family come to light. And as the past and the present collide, Ava and Mason try to understand their growing feelings for each other.

Mason and Ava are Kendra's crowning glory. Dedicated to their job, focus in their quest for justice, despite individual issues in their lives, they create enough ripples of passion and intimacy as they try to get to know each other. This is just the beginning of a relationship that will go through a journey of ups and downs as they deal with personal baggage. But nowhere does the lust and passion take away from the desperation and pain of a family trying to get their daughter back or the grave and critical situation of the kidnapping as the FBI races against time to get to the bottom of it.

I really, really, really was in the perpetrator's corner of sympathy.

Can I give 10 stars?? What an amazing story. Love reading Kendra's books', and they honestly get better with each story she writes. I hate when I come to the end of the book, because then it's all about being patient for her next book to come out.
Kendra is my favourite author, and I don't see that changing any time soon,

Is this book and all of Kendra's other books in your tbr list.. it should be.. money well spent on any Kenda Elliot book, and this one was unbelievably great!

Recommend this book to EVERYONE.. no kidding.. you will NOT be disappointed with a purchase of this one.

I loved Mason 's story. I have really liked this character in other books and was waiting for more and I was not disappointed when he got his own story. Also the match that was made with him and Ava was awesome. Now for the rest of the book. I enjoyed the storyline and the suspense was there throughout the entire book. This entire series has been very good. I was a bit disappointed that none of the other characters from previous books appeared but I guess they can't be everywhere.
