More About the Author

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Susan Mallery has entertained millions of readers with her witty and emotional stories about women and the relationships that define their lives. She has published more than 100 romance and women's fiction novels, beginning with two books the same month when she was just out of college. Her books have spent more than 120 weeks on the USA Today bestsellers list and have reached as high as #2 on the New York Times bestsellers list, statistically tied for #1 (THREE LITTLE WORDS, a Fool's Gold romance). Known for her keen insight into human nature and her humorous take on life, Susan Mallery has been described by RT Book Reviews as "in a class by herself!" and was featured as a Red Hot Read in Cosmopolitan Magazine. In 2013 and 2014, four of her books were named each year to Amazon's "Best Book of the Month" list.

With a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Susan is one of the few writers who can understand her royalty statement. She went on to get a Masters in Writing Popular Fiction and has extensively studied story structure in screenwriting courses, though she has no plans to write for the screen. Her goal, always, is to give readers a story that will move them, populated with characters who feel like real people.

Booklist says, "Novels don't get much better than Mallery's expert blend of emotional nuance, humor, and superb storytelling," and Publisher's Weekly calls her prose "luscious and provocative." Susan appreciates critical praise, but she values praise from her readers even more. She credits her successful career to the loyal readers who rush out to buy each new book on the day it's released.

With the advent of ebooks, Susan's career has soared even higher, and her books make regular appearances on both print and ebook bestsellers lists. She has embraced the Digital Age with a robust website (www.susanmallery.com), an active presence on Facebook (www.facebook.com/susanmallery) and a free Susan Mallery app for the iPhone, iPad, and Android devices (www.mobileroadie.com/apps/susanmallery). At www.foolsgoldca.com, she also provides bonus content such as after-the-happily-ever-after updates for the Fool's Gold romances, her most popular ongoing series.

Born and raised in California, Susan lives with her family in Seattle, where she survives the dreary days of winter with the help of a "happy lamp" and plenty of coffee.

I like to think that, as a therapist, a writer, and a former content editor, I can easily discern both plot line(s) and character development in books and movies fairly early in the story. I am usually accurate - which is why I rarely read story overviews before reading a book for pleasure - and I am rarely surprised by what happens.

I am an avid Susan Mallery fan. I've read most (if not all) of her books and I thoroughly enjoy her writing style and her stories. I enjoy some more than others, but most of them are 4 to 5 stars in my mind.

Susan MAJORLY surprised me with this story. I was laughing so hard my sides hurt. I loved the way she not only developed the characters, but also resolved both the internal and the external conflicts. If I could - I'd give it 10 stars.

Usually when I finish one of Susan's delightful stories, I am looking forward to the next one, but am content to wait the period of time before it gets published. THIS TIME, I want the next book NOW.

Once again Susan Mallery has written a top-notch winning read!! Though I think this may be the sexiest book she's written. The main characters, Sam and Dellina, had previously met and had some hot sex but Sam was scared away when he saw something that made him think Dellina was trying to hook herself a husband. He and his partners want to have a party for some of their clients and families and who better to help with that than party planner, Dellina. Very reluctantly Sam approaches Dellina, they clear the air about the husband hooking and the fun begins. As in all her Fool's Gold stories, Ms Mallery includes many of the characters from her previous books. Fayrene and Ryan are finally engaged, Taryn and Angel are getting closer to getting married, the mysterious, know-all see-all Mayor Marsha has done some more kind deeds which brings in a couple of new characters in the next Fool's Gold book.
Before We Kiss is a warm, friendly, and sometimes, hilarious read. Sam's parents are like no other....weird but lovable. And, of course, when Larissa needs help with one of her missions the town pulls together to help her out.

I am so looking forward to the next Fool's Gold story.

When I sat down to read Susan's latest Fools Gold book, I was wondering would it be gold.....well let me put your mind at rest. It is another 5 star hit!!!

This stars Sam and Dellina who are working their way back to each other after a misunderstanding some months back......and away we go...Sam and his partners use Dellina who is a party planner for an upcoming event. From there the book just takes me away.

Mayor Marsha pops up and we meet a new cast of upcoming Fools Gold characters thru her....i cant wait....

Back to Sam and Dellina- I have to state for the record--Sam parents are soo freakin funny!! I feel so bad for him. They do not have an off button. Just know you will wince and root for Sam to overcome some past issues with them to win back Dellina......

The ending of the book had me in tears and makes me believe in romance. Susan Mallery knows how to write the epic ending for romance books each and every time so it feels very fresh.

Overall, this book rocks and I would recommend this for yourself, for your girlfriends, for family......heck for co workers. Worth every penny

I feel guilty saying this because I love Susan Mallery and this series is amazing but the book was just meh in my opinion. The supporting characters were quirky and fun to read as usual but my main problem was Sam and Dellina themselves. Sam was a great guy and Dellina was sweet but I didn't really feel the chemistry between them. I thought the conflict at the end was pretty contrived and then the resolution was so easy I didn't get the happy sigh of satisfaction I usually do when finishing a Fools Gold book. I couldn't believe how easy Dellina took him back. I also admit I missed that there wasn't the pity party with all the women crashing Dellina's pad with alcohol and food that we saw in past books as they console the heroine over the hero's stupid behavior.

My other problem was the set up of two characters that will obviously get their own books in the future but had no ties whatsoever with Sam and Dellina's story. Usually Mallery is much more subtle in introducing these new characters without it seeming out of place or shoving it in reader's face that these are new characters to keep an eye out for. In this case these chapters seemed randomly thrown in and messed with the flow of the story.

What I did love was that we still get to see some of our favorite quirky towns people as well as favorite characters from past books. It was by no means a bad book but not a out of the ball park hit for me. Still I am exited to read Jack and Larissa's story.

Ended this book with a big laugh and an outloud "WTF" to myself. Have liked the couple of books I've read of hers before. This was a snooze fest mostly and resulted in a lot of quick reading just to get it over with.

*Spoiler Alert*
If you don't like hot and heavy action after the 50% mark you'll probs be bored. Also there is no conflict at all (and I don't even like conflict!) and then when there is some (or what was supposed to be some) it is LITERALLY all resolved in the last PAGE of the book and then it's done. So stupid. Very disappointed.
