I don't usually write reviews, but after reading this book, I knew that I had to. This book is simply amazing! I wasn't quite sure what to expect when going into this book, but after reading the sample on my Kindle, I was hooked and had to find out what happened. And boy, am I glad I did! I stayed up until 3:00 in the morning to finish it. Be warned though, that this is not a light read nor for the faint of heart. It is a dark and emotional roller coaster. That being said, it was an intriguing read with lots of emotion, passion, multi-layered characters, and a hero (can you even call him that?) with hidden depths that you know you shouldn't like, yet can't help to be drawn to. Once glimpses from his past are revealed, you can't help but fall in love with him and feel empathy for everything he went through. Both characters are extremely strong and are survivors that you just can't help but stand up and root for. Read it! You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you won't regret it!

Just a heads up though, this is the first part of a 2 part book. The only bad thing I can say about this book is that you have to wait for the second half! All I can say to the author is, please write fast!! I'm chomping at the bit to find out how this book is going to end!

This story is one of the best written that I have enjoyed; although it is a gritty novel and certainly not the story of "a knight of honor coming to rescue the damsel in distress". Both characters have emotional scars from childhood that would make the average person bitter and angry. Caleb and Livvie (Kitten) have become survivors through their personal struggles and interestingly both are people who become invisible by blending into their environments. Caleb had been kidnapped as a child and brought to a brothel, he was rescued by a Pakistani military man, Rafig, who raised him with the intention of bringing vengeance upon a Russian slaver who killed his mother than used and sold his sister. He has taught Caleb to be a cold, unconsiencable killer and destroyer of lives.

Livvie was raised in a tough neighborhood by a mother who never found a man to stay in their lives and had a number of children by a number of fathers, Livvie being the first born. The mother was so concerned about her daughter that she was constantly accusing her of being a whore and a disappointment. The character of Livvie, was of an innocent young woman trying to appease her mother and discovering that she was always falling short. Livvie is vulnerable and intelligent; she would have been able to earn a scholarship with the dream of writing. When Caleb captures her, the life that should have been hers is sacrificed so that Caleb can fulfill his obligation to Rafig.

The author builds the characters throughout the story in such a way that it is obvious that both Caleb and Livvie are lonely and starved for the kind of love that unconditionally accepts them, is healing and long lasting. Love is confusing to those of us who have never suffered degradation and control.

I'm always on the hunt for a new romance book and came across this book with so many positive reviews and decided to try it out. I'm 22 and like to consider myself very opened minded but I read the first 2 pages and had to put it down. A man watching a young female at her school bus stop with the intention if kidnapping her and training her to be a sex slave? I was immediately turned off and it took me 2 weeks to give it another go. This entire book consisted of the main female, Olivia, being sexually abused, kidnapped, degraded, tortured and raped. Oh and don't let me forget SHE'S ONLY 18! The main male, Caleb, is the main person inflicting all this pain on her. In a disturbing twist Olivia develops Stockholm Syndrome for her abuser Caleb. There is no romance, just some sick attraction for the one man who isn't raping and torturing her for no reason, he's "training " her. There is no happy ending for Olivia in this book, the poor girl is physically and emotionally broken and Caleb still intends to sell her.
The fact is this happens everyday to young girls all over the world and I'm willing to bet that these girls never live happily ever after with their kidnappers. The fact that someone took the very real problem of human trafficking for the sex trade and turned it into a love story, and how so many people liked it is disgusting and shows how numb we're becoming to this kind of stuff when reading about it is entertaining and enjoying.
I didn't even consider buying the second book and will stay far away from other books by this author in the future.

I purchased this ebook this morning and read it in a matter of hours. I couldn't put it down it was that good! The character's were well thought out, and the story flowed at a perfect pace. I cannot wait for the sequel so I can learn what's in store for Caleb and Livvie. I prefer not to think about the fact that such a disturbing story could pull my heartstrings but it is hard not to feel for both the tormentor and the tormented. Kudos to the author for a story well told!

A friend lent me this book, and all she asked was that I not read anything about it and go into it with no expectations...so I did. Now, I'm typically the kind of person who has to read a book to the end, no matter how bad it is. I don't know if it is just a curiosity thing - I want to know how it ends...or if it's a hope thing - I keep hoping it gets better. Whatever the case may be, I had to force myself to keep reading this book.

Dark and twisted are the only words that fit. I saw other reviews that called this a love story...seriously? This is NOT a love story. Kidnapping, beating and raping a teenage girl while she is being prepared to be sold as a sex slave = love? I don't think so.

Caleb is looking for someone to help him fulfill his goal of revenge. Why kidnap this girl to turn around and sell her as a sex slave to his enemy? This isn't someone with the same score to settle. Kidnapping this girl, breaking her mind, body and soul - how is this going to help him in his vendetta. Beating her with a belt? That is not BDSM, its abuse. Why does he think she would do anything to help him once she is on the inside? It is ludicrous.

Is it well written, yes...because I was filled with horror all the way through. The fact that this sort of thing happens in REAL life, every day...but here someone has tried to put a romantic spin on it...I find that disgusting.

I have absolutely NO interest in reading the rest of this series.
