More About the Author

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Susan Mallery has entertained millions of readers with her witty and emotional stories about women and the relationships that define their lives. She has published more than 100 romance and women's fiction novels, beginning with two books the same month when she was just out of college. Her books have spent more than 120 weeks on the USA Today bestsellers list and have reached as high as #2 on the New York Times bestsellers list, statistically tied for #1 (THREE LITTLE WORDS, a Fool's Gold romance). Known for her keen insight into human nature and her humorous take on life, Susan Mallery has been described by RT Book Reviews as "in a class by herself!" and was featured as a Red Hot Read in Cosmopolitan Magazine. In 2013 and 2014, four of her books were named each year to Amazon's "Best Book of the Month" list.

With a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Susan is one of the few writers who can understand her royalty statement. She went on to get a Masters in Writing Popular Fiction and has extensively studied story structure in screenwriting courses, though she has no plans to write for the screen. Her goal, always, is to give readers a story that will move them, populated with characters who feel like real people.

Booklist says, "Novels don't get much better than Mallery's expert blend of emotional nuance, humor, and superb storytelling," and Publisher's Weekly calls her prose "luscious and provocative." Susan appreciates critical praise, but she values praise from her readers even more. She credits her successful career to the loyal readers who rush out to buy each new book on the day it's released.

With the advent of ebooks, Susan's career has soared even higher, and her books make regular appearances on both print and ebook bestsellers lists. She has embraced the Digital Age with a robust website (www.susanmallery.com), an active presence on Facebook (www.facebook.com/susanmallery) and a free Susan Mallery app for the iPhone, iPad, and Android devices (www.mobileroadie.com/apps/susanmallery). At www.foolsgoldca.com, she also provides bonus content such as after-the-happily-ever-after updates for the Fool's Gold romances, her most popular ongoing series.

Born and raised in California, Susan lives with her family in Seattle, where she survives the dreary days of winter with the help of a "happy lamp" and plenty of coffee.

Wow! When We Met, is book 13 in Susan Mallery's Fool's Gold series and is just wonderful!

Angel Whittaker is the allusive man with the scar on his neck that works for the bodyguard school in town. He knows how to perfectly balance his place in the community without getting too attached. He lost his son and wife in a car crash years ago and doesn't want to tarnish their memory by getting too close to anyone else. The one thing he wants most right now is Taryn Crawford in his bed.

In Taryn's experience the only person you can count on is yourself. She has made it as far in this world because she made it happen. She doesn't let herself fall for any man no matter how rugged and handsome they are. When Angel approaches her and lets her know that he is interested, Taryn knows that she has hit the jackpot. Angel doesn't want love and forever and Taryn doesn't want to give it.

When We Met is the first real look at the inner workings of the football players that moved to Fool's Gold. I must say I am SOOOO looking forward to all of "the boys'" books! These are already well developed characters and I could see how Mallery was subtlety making you fall for them. As soon as I was done with this book I hopped on the internet to see who got the next book this summer! I can not wait!!!

Mallery is the master at creating these perfectly flawed characters who feel so real you can't stop thinking about them after you have finished the book. For days I kept smiling thinking about Taryn out in the woods with her hair all messed up and how she was such a champ and never did anything halfway. Taryn is a character to look up to.

This book caught me in the first paragraph and never let go. I made the mistake of starting it late in the evening and then was not able to put it down until I finished. A great read, well worth the loss of sleep! I think it may be my favorite Fools Gold novel yet.

4.75 stars It's such a nice, easy story, fun to read. When We Me
4.75 stars It's such a nice, easy story, fun to read.
When We Met is book # 13 in the “Fool’s Gold” Series. The main characters are Taryn and Angel. Angel was introduced in #10“One of a Kind” and Taryn in #12 “Three Little Words”. They appear briefly, with their presence increasing in the subsequent books as they near their own story. It is not necessary to read the previous books but they do give you a little more background of the characters, the town, and the idiosyncrasies of some of its quirky residents. As always it also includes an introduction to those characters that will be featured in future Fool's Gold books.
I really enjoyed this book. It's such a nice, easy story, fun to read. I can't think of any way I'd change it. I adored the characters. They were very realistic and were placed in everyday, believable situations. The story flowed really well. I didn’t want to put it down. And most of all I could not easily predict what was coming next. I mean, you know at some point they have to have a crisis, break up, and then the happy ever after, but there isn't any blatantly obvious clues of what that crisis will be. So you shouldn’t figure the ending out by the middle of the book.
This was an amusing book. It contains a few very funny circumstances. I especially liked Taryn’s twist on the famed “girls night”. (It’s a tradition found in most, if not all, of the fool’s gold books when the couple breaks up). And the need to change the Fool’s gold motto of “the land of happy endings”. You’ll never look at it the same again. The teasers previewing the new match-ups for future books look to have amusing situations. I am especially looking forward to Larissa’s story.

***Just so you know I was given a copy of the book for an honest review****

Honestly this is a book that, unlike most people I wasn't hugely interested in. I love how she introduces characters (or at least mentions them) a book or three before they get there own lead and we learn more about them. I won't rehash the premise or summarize the story, as it has already been done quite a bit, so I'll just get to it. I was perhaps least interested in Angel and Taryn than any character that she has yet written about. I don't feel like I connected to either of the characters like I normally do, having said that this was still an entertaining read that I finished in one day and that I stayed up reading until early morning. While I didn't love this chapter in Fool's Gold, I did like it and I think it set important foundations for this summers other two books Until we Touch and Before the Kiss.

I would say that if you like Fool's gold and are an avid Susan Mallery fan, this is not a shining star in her bag, but if you are an avid reader who loves to read well written pieces that although maybe not your favorite, but still a very interesting book then you should definitely get this book. I liked it, didn't love it, but I liked it enough to lose sleep for ;P.
