More About the Author

I wrote my first story -- a tragic romance about two star-crossed Mallard ducks -- as a second grade writing assignment. The paper earned a gold star. And I kept writing.

I've since written around a hundred novels and have been published in twenty-six countries. Two of my titles have been excerpted in Cosmopolitan magazine and my books have also been published by the Doubleday, Rhapsody, Mystery Guild, and Literary Guild bookclubs. As a New York Times, U.S. Today, and Publishers Weekly bestseller, I'm also a member of the Romance Writers of America's Honor Roll of best-selling authors.

I'm currently writing my Shelter Bay series, set on the magnificent Oregon coast where, when I was eighteen-years-old, my high school sweetheart bought me a bag of taffy, then proposed. The smartest thing I ever did was say yes! I've also begun a spin-off trilogy of Shelter Bay. River's Bend (home to three sexy Murphy brothers) is set in Southern Oregon ranching country, where I grew up. And, I'm expanding my award-winning Irish series, set in Castlelough, Ireland, Shelter Bay's sister city.

My husband and I live in our beloved Pacific Northwest, with three rescued dogs who pretty much rule the house. (And, in case you're wondering, that taffy store is still there! )

I am a big fan of JoAnn Ross and have read and enjoyed most everything she has written.
River's Bend is the story of Cooper Murphy, Sheriff of River's Bend and Rachel Hathaway, the new owner of New Chance Cafe. Cooper and Rachel have both faced personal tragedies in their lives. While Cooper is ready to move on with his life, Rachel is still struggling with making a new life for herself and her small son. I really enjoyed reading how the two were able to come together and work through their differences, mainly due to Cooper's patience and understanding. Another thing I liked about this story is the people of River's Bend. They are what I always hoped to find in my forever hometown.
River's Bend is a warm hearted, feel good love story where boy meets girl, boy and girl fall in love and find their happily ever after. I sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

JoAnn Ross delivers another emotional and delightfully funny story in River's Bend.

Rachel Hathaway thought she was leaving the perfect life but come to find out that it was all smoke and mirrors. When her husband died suddenly she was left with a young son to raise and bills coming out of the woodwork. A chance notice in the paper for a restaurant for sale has her packing everything up and moving Oregon to start over.

Sherriff Cooper Murphy has known his own share of heartache. His first meeting of the young widow has Cooper seeing a kindred spirit. As luck would have it he has to tell her dream of reopening the restaurant has been set back by a fire that nearly destroyed the place. He convinces Rachel to stay and rallies the town folks to help Rachel achieve her dream.

Although the restaurant is slowly taking shape, the connection between Rachel and Cooper is burning hot and heavy. Rachel is so scared to let her heart open she risks the chance of happiness with Cooper. When a situation puts Cooper in danger, Rachel realizes she can't keep hidden her feelings any longer.

River's Bend is a moving story filled with strong emotions. Second chances are rare and both Cooper and Rachel soon realize this to be true. The chemistry between Cooper and Rachel is filled with depth and sizzling passion. JoAnn Ross's books are must buys for me and I am looking forward to the next book in this new series.

I loved this story from the opening pages. What could be more wonderful than learning about how Rachel and Cooper met, especially when the story includes 9-year old Scott, Rachel’s son? (Stories with children or animals become instant favorites!) The author has such a gift of writing realistic dialogue, combined with artistic descriptions and imaginative plots… and her characters come to life. In this book, the entire town comes to life – and I have come to appreciate its citizens and families, and would love to be able to visit!!

JoAnn Ross does it again. This book is so beautifully written I could not put it down. JoAnn Ross writes in such an amazing way that I can picture in my mind the exact way the characters speak and look. In this book Coop is just swoon worthy and Rachel is strong and determined. Their story never seemed forced it just flows.

JoAnn Ross is an auto buy for me no matter what the book is about. I know she will never disappoint me.

As always Joann Ross has done it again. I read the Shelter Bay series and loved each of them. Although this book is listed as a spin off of Shelter Bay we do not catch up with any of the characters from that series. Chef Maddie is mentioned several times, and Rachel and Cooper do meet her on a trip to Shelter Bay. The chemistry between the characters is awesome. Rachel and Cooper have past to overcome before they can move forward. There is a very small amount of suspense in the book and the right amount of steam to make it a perfect read.

Heartwarming and an enjoyable read.....to want to believe that life can have such wonderful twists and turns, that love can have such deep meaning, it puts hope back into the equation. In my field of forensics, where often there is little hope, and life's twists can be devastating, especially to its victims, and where love is portrayed as abuse....this read was something good to think about life, to consider that it truly could exist, and, for me, proved to be a good escape!

I loved the story, and how it unfolded, and I loved the characters. I was happy to see that this is the first of more books set in this friendly town. My only complaint is the editing. It seemed to get worse as the book went on: sentences that made no sense, repeated phrases in the same sentence, etc. But the kicker was on page 255 (Kindle) that had Cooper's fingers playing idly with the dark hair splayed across his damn chest. I read it twice, and laughed.
