I grew up with a steady diet of William Shakespeare and Jane Austen. After all that literary immersion, I naturally decided to get a degree in mathematics, which came in handy when one of my six children needed help with homework. After my fourth daughter was born, I started writing. By juggling diaper changes, soccer games, music lessons, laundry, and two more children, I finished my first manuscript--a Western--in just under fourteen years. I now write Inspirational Amish Romance. My goal is to write uplifting, inspiring stories with happy endings and hopeful messages. If my books make readers want to give themselves a big hug or jump up and down for joy, I've done my job. The Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill is my new Amish Romance series set in Wisconsin on a little hill in Amish country.
The series is about an elderly Amish couple who try to find suitable mates for their grandchildren. What could be more fun than throwing two young people together to see if sparks ignite? No one would ever suspect two octogenarian Amish folks of mischief.
Romantic Times gave Huckleberry Hill 4 1/2 stars, calling it "A sweet romance with a lot of heart that offers a new, refreshing take on the...matchmaking trope. The storyline is feasible, the characters are well written, with both their strengths and weaknesses on display. Readers will treasure this series and put the first outing on their keeper shelf."
RT Book Reviews chose Huckleberry Summer as a TOP PICK with 4 1/2 stars: "The next installment of the Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill series will hook readers with its love story, its sticky situations and a grandmother who only wants happiness for her grandchildren. Beckstrand brings new life to the age-old occupation of matchmaking."~ RTBookReviews.com 4.5 Stars

Huckleberry Summer by Jennifer Beckstrand is the second book in the Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hills series. After bringing Lia and their grandson Moses together in the first book of the series Huckleberry Hill, grandparents Anna and Felty Helmuth are at it again, in their own delightful way, and this time it is Aden Helmuth who has come to live with them. Aden is a person who has been branded troublesome, which is really far from the truth. He has his own mind, and his own reckless way of doing things but always with the best intentions. Unfortunately for him and his family in Sugarcreek, he always ends up on the wrong side, causing much discomfort and embarrassment. The decision was made to pack him off to Huckleberry. What Aden never expects was for his grandparents to come up with their mischievous plan.
The person Anna Helmuth has in mind is Lily Eicher, who is the exact opposite of Aden. She is obedient almost to a fault, idolizes her father and strictly followed the set of strict rules for Amish living. Lily’s devotion to her father is complete and total, and she wouldn’t do anything to disappoint him. Unaware of the plan Anna and Felty Helmuth worked out, Lily Eicher innocently accepts their invitation and is now working for them in their home. Trouble started when rumor spread and Lily’s father warns her to stay away from Aden. In fact, he has already planned to marry her off to the bishop’s son, Tyler Yoder, who is someone every parent would want for a son-in-law.
With Huckleberry Summer, you are in for a heartwarming and delightful read as only Jennifer Beckstrand could give. It is sweet, charming, fun-filled, engaging and simply irresistible.Read more ›

This is book two in Beckstrand's The Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill and it was fantastic! Don't you love the cover? It makes you want to crack it open and start reading right now, but watch out you will be hooked from page one. You will not be able to put it down so plan for an afternoon of reading. I loved the characters, Lily and Aden are super! You are going to love the matchmaking and romance in this very well written book. I can't wait until the next book in the series! I gave this book 5 stars of course. I was given a copy of this book by the publisher for my honest review.

This is Book #2 of The Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill series. Aden Helmuth seems to get in a lot of trouble-he's even been arrested several times. He is going to Bonduel, Wisconsin to stay with his grandparents, Felty and Anna Helmuth. Lily Eicher is an obedient daughter who would do anything to avoid disappointing her dat. Anna has planned that Lily would be the perfect match for Aden so she hires Lily to work for them 3 days a week. Lily has her first encounter with Aden after his dog Pilot is rather rambunctious in greeting Lily. Lily and Aden get to know each other over a period of time but Lily is cautious as her father has plans for her to marry the bishop's son, Tyler, who Lily has been seeing. Lily and Aden develop feelings for each other during their time together. Things get bad when Lily gets involved in a situation with Aden and his friend Jamal and they end up getting arrested. She then vows to follow her dat's wishes and agrees to marry Tyler. Aden will suffer a bann for this incident and he decides he will return to Sugarcreek, Ohio after his bann is lifted. I don't want to give away too much of the story as it would contain spoilers.
I haven't read the first book in this series but this book read just fine as a stand alone novel. I truly enjoyed getting to know these characters, especially Felty and Anna with their matchmaking. Pilot was also a favorite of mine and he had me laughing throughout this heartwarming story. I did get a bit frustrated with Aden always finding trouble and with Lily always being so timid but I was happy with how the story ended and how each of the two found their courage to change. I felt sorry for Tyler but he was such a loyal friend and I hope to see him in the next book.Read more ›

In Jennifer Beckstrand’s Huckleberry Summer, matchmakers Anna and Felty Helmuth are back and this time they are setting up their bad boy grandson Aden with cautious Lily Eicher. This delightful addition to The Matchmakers of Huckleberry Hill series is another captivating romance with a charming cast of likable characters and a unique storyline.
Lily is a thoughtful and obedient young woman who strives to live up to her dat’s high expectations. She is timid and cautious but she is also sweet and kind-hearted. Lily follows rules to the letter and never deviates from doing what is expected of her. While her dat wants her to marry their neighbor Tyler, Aden is the man she desires to wed. Will she find the courage to follow her heart despite his vehement disapproval?
Aden is definitely not the typical Amish young man. He has strong beliefs about protecting the environment and he does not hesitate to jump into the middle of the action. After his latest escapade goes dangerously awry, he is more than ready to accept his grandparents’ invitation to move in with them. Of course Aden does not realize until after he moves that Anna is planning a little matchmaking between him and Lily. Aden is pretty smitten with Lily right from their first meeting but Lily is under strict orders to keep her distance from Aden.
While it is not exactly smooth sailing for the young couple, a romance slowly begins to bloom between Lily and Aden. Lily knows convincing her father to change his mind about Aden is going to take time, and she remains hopeful he will eventually approve their match. Lily has her own reservations about Aden, but as they get to know one another, she discovers the truth about his reputation and she agrees with some of his “unorthodox” ideas.Read more ›
