This book of the series is definitely a must read. I was starting to get a little frustrated with the Immortal Guardians series. It was starting to follow a very predictable formula. But this book, this book has once again restored my love of this series. FYI, some questions still haven't been answered(groan) but there will be answers to other questions. This book doesn't have a cliffhanger, per se. It does have a HEA.
From the previous books, you already know that Lisette is starting to harbor secret feelings for the renegade immortal Zach. The one and only person on Seth's s*** list. But that doesn't stop Lisette from helping Zach when she founds him badly beaten, bruised and bloody in her back yard. She lovely helps nurse him back to health with the aid of Bastian (the black sheep himself), knowing this will enraged Seth. She cannot understand the connection she feels towards the ancient immortal but she does realize she is willing to risk everything just to be with him.
Zach is something more. He never thought he was capable of being anything other than what he was until Lisette stepped into his life. With her, he truly understands what it is to live again. So when he almost loses her in a battle, he decides to put away old strife between him and Seth and help the Immortals Guardians, all because of his love for this dark warrior. And Zach for all his millennium of living and untold secrets, finding love is the greatest and scariest thing in his life.
The book contains, as with the series, the right combination of action, romance, suspense and passion. The fight scenes that the Immortal encounter are detailed. Dianne, as always, describes anything in such detail that you not only picture the fight, but you feel as if you are in the midst of battle.Read more ›

Fans of paranormal romance who haven’t discovered this series yet are really missing out on something extraordinary. Ms. Duvall has consistently proved her talent with every installment by delivering heart stopping action, thrilling escapes, sizzling romance and heroes and heroines that touch and engage the emotions of a reader. Every single book so far has been almost impossible to put down once I started and Night Unbound continues the tradition. I read it in one day, all 400+ pages. It was that compelling.
If readers like a bad good guy who is misunderstood, Zach is their man. If readers are looking for a romance that embraces sweet and naughty, that can be tender or frenzied, and defies all odds, including threat of death, then this is the book to read. If a race against time and the drama and suspense and all that that entails piques your interest, then a reader should feel right at home. If reading about a strong man who is not intimidated by a strong woman but is turned on by it, who acts like an adorable puppy with the heroine but can wield power better than Darth Vader, then Zach might be the man of your dreams. Zach’s personal growth in this story is tremendously painful but worth every angst filled page. What he turns into is worthy of a swoon – and a rousing cheer.
Lisette is the heroine who teaches Zach to crave a woman’s touch. She’s a warrior and has a wicked talent with swords. She’s also a very brave woman because she stood up to the threat of death in order to be with the man she loved. Night Unbound is the 5th book in the Immortal Guardians series by Dianne Duvall. It’s an ongoing paranormal romance series, with each book showcasing a new hero and heroine in a complete story. I really liked Night Unbound. It drew me in completely, the story, the romance and the characters. By the time I finished reading I was invested in the story and the characters, not just the main characters but all of them. I love when that happens.
Night Unbound is a story filled with romance, excitement and action. The hero, Zach was wonderful, one of my favorite heroes that I’ve read this year. He’s mysteries, powerful, and sexy. I loved him with Lisette, the heroine. With her he’s protective, caring, tender and possessive. His attraction and yearning for Lisette drew him from his centuries’ long sterile and cold existence. He knew being with her would cause him to be hunted by his kind but he wasn’t giving her up.
Lisette was just as drawn to Zach as he was to her. And even though she was ordered by Seth, the Immortal Guardian leader, to stay away from Zach, she couldn’t. I liked Lisette a lot. She’s one of the few female Immortal Guardians and she’s tough without being hard. She’s also genuine and warm hearted. I loved her and Zach together. Their romance was a joy to read.
Night Unbound has a very engaging and interesting story. The world and characters are vividly drawn. I felt as if I had stepped into the story as I grew to know the characters. I cheered their triumphs and my heart ached for their losses. I cared what happened to them and I’m anxious to read more about them in future stories. I hope that Seth gets a story of his own soon.
