Becca Timm desperately needs to get over old flame Denny Cutler if she's going to move on with her life and marry her current boyfriend. Three years ago Denny broke her heart before heading off to war, and even though she's told herself it's over, deep inside, she's not so sure. She decides to find out in an unorthodox manner-by arriving on her twin brother Rich's doorstep with a packed bag. He's one of Denny's Marine buddies and the guys are planning a hunting and fishing trip in Virgin River. Rich can't say no, so Becca hitches a ride.
Things do not go well. Denny isn't happy to see her, and she's sure she's made a huge mistake. Then she breaks her ankle and is confined to quarters with a way too handsome Denny in attendance. What's a girl to do?
Bring Me Home for Christmas brings back many of the delightful Virgin River characters we know and love. Amid the charming and caring town, Becca reevaluates her life and what she really needs. This is a wonderful Christmas story featuring caring people and causes, but it's also a coming of age story for Becca and Denny and what they want for the future. It is also a heartwarming story of Becca's rediscovering her love of teaching and a healing of the rift between her and her mother. Highly recommended.

Where else would you rather be for Thanksgiving and Christmas than Virgin River? This latest installment in the series, just in time for the holidays, reminds us of the true spirit of the season.
Becca Trimm surprises her brother Rich on the morning of his scheduled departure for a hunting trip in Virgin River with his ex-Marine buddies for the Thanksgiving holiday. She is going with him and is prepared and ready. Rich has no time to think it through and allows her to accompany him but knows he should be worried: Denny Cutler, Becca's ex, is their host and this is sure to be a problem. She wants to make certain her feelings for Denny are in the past before she takes the next step with her current boyfriend but Becca tells everybody she just wants to learn how to hunt and fish. Yeah, right.
Becca and Denny didn't part ways on great terms so her being in Virgin River is awkward for all. When one of Rich and Denny's friends show interest in Becca, matters get even stickier. But, Denny, who hasn't gotten over Becca, has to assert himself more than he'd like to keep things from moving further in the wrong direction.
Becca ends up in a situation beyond her control that causes her to extend her stay in Virgin River for several weeks. During that time, she and Denny have a chance to finally talk about the demise of their relationship and come to terms with their feelings for each other.
One of the most compelling aspects of this series is the spirit of community in Virgin River. We get to see it in action through Becca's eyes as the residents prepare to help out needy families for the holidays and reach out to those stranded when a snow storm hits early. Another great Virgin River Series - all ready for the next one!! I love the way Robyn has characters from other books in the series making an occasional appearance. Of course Jack's is the center of the action and once again you see how these wonderful people come together to help out others in need. If there was a "real" Virgin River, I'd be tempted to move:- Highly recommend this book.

Becca has a feeling that her boyfriend is about to propse marriage to her, but she can't seem to stop thinking about her ex. So she hitches a ride with her brother to crash his all guys weekend with her said ex. Needless to say, Denny is surprised to see her.
The two of them seemed cordial enough with one another, although they did seem to be avoiding the issue at first. But when an accident forces them to spend time together, they admit their feelings for one another. Denny and Becca's romance was sweet and entertaining, but it was the rest of Virgin River that drew me in.
I enjoyed watching the town pull together to help each other during the snowstorm. Almost all the familiar faces were present in this installment. Jack, Mel, Preacher, the Riordans, and more.
A nice read to get you ready for the holidays.

These books are comfort reads. I know I can settle down with one of Robyn Carr's Virgin River books and read about good people trying to do the right thing, re-inventing their lives and priorities and yes, a great romance story. Bring Me Home For Christmas is no exception. The story starts with the introduction of a twin brother and sister pair heading to Virgin River for a hunting outing. The set-up is the re-uniting of long separated young lovers, now matured and having survived difficult life experiences. In typical Virgin River style, the characters quickly become immersed in each other's lives, eating together, working together, overcoming a medical emergency, and helping those less fortunate. Carr provides those delicious details many readers of her series have come to love - details of hard work on farms, hunting, the rough and beautiful weather that occurs high up in the mountains, and of course the cooking at Preacher and Jack's bar. It never fails that after I finish one of these books I am hungry for some comfort food and good coffee!
The story did have some weaknesses. The premise of the story and the background of the two main characters are repeated 3 or 4 times, I actually lost count. After the 2nd time I understood the characters' history and motivation, but Carr goes on to repeat their background again and again. Personally, I love the good old characters in Virgin River, so I would have loved to see more of Mel and Brie. But despite these failings, the book still delivered. The friendship and re-uniting of the two main characters was well-written and not rushed. The strong relationship the heroine had with her family was touching. Personally, I love the way Carr writes female characters and she delivers a great one in this story. In fact, the story brought me to tears at several points, including the ending. Readers of the Virgin River series will enjoy this holiday installment.
