Jessica Sorensen is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author from the snowy mountains of Wyoming. When she's not writing, she spends her time reading and hanging out with her family. You can find more information about Jessica and her books at www.jessicasorensen.com
How can you love someone if you’ve never experienced loved at all, if you don’t know what love is? That’s the question of The Certainty of Violet and Luke.
In the aftermath of the devastating trip to Las Vegas, Violet and Luke attempt to put their lives back together. After reaching out to his father, Luke makes some very difficult decisions about his gambling and drinking. I also have to give kudos to Luke's father for the role he plays in supporting Luke through this difficult time.
Luke's also clear about his feelings for Violet. He loves her, but hesitates to tell her because he doesn’t want to scare her into craving an adrenaline rush or worse to deal with it. So he stays silent and I could feel his anguish.
While Luke is getting his life back together, it’s Violet who is falling… falling apart in a major way for a good part of the first half of the book. She’s in so much despair over the revelations about Preston and the impending arrest of Luke’s mother for her parent’s murders, but a lot of her emotional turmoil is dealing with her feelings for Luke. She’s never known love in her life, so she has no clue what it looks or feels like. She’s falling for Luke and it’s heartbreaking when she thinks --“I’m not supposed to fall in love. I don’t even know what the f*ck it is.”
So there’s a boatload of feelings and inner thoughts from both Luke and Violet in this book, and I loved that about it. I could really feel Violet’s confusion, her depression, how the past has taken its toll on her and yet she is coming to an awareness that she has to be one to change it, and it’s a slow and gut wrenching process.
Luke shows a tremendous amount of bravery by stopping his gambling and drinking and in recognizing his deep feelings for Violet.Read more ›

The Certainty of Violet & Luke picks up right where The Probability of Violet & Luke left off. Violet's life is a mess. Preston is stalking her, her parents murder is still unsolved and to top it all off, she's falling behind in school. It's becoming too much and she feels as though she's going to loose it. When the final straw is drawn, Violet almost makes the biggest mistake of all and that mistake ends up being a life altering experience. It puts things into perspective for her and makes her realize that things have to change and she's finally got to work with the feelings that she has.....Luke is trying so hard to get his life back on track. He has his own struggles and demons to deal with. But one thing is certain, he doesn't know when it happened, but he's fallen in love with Violet and that terrifies him. He's not afraid of being in love, he's afraid of how she will respond. With all the craziness that's going on and parts of their pasts that just do not want to go away, will Violet and Luke ever be able to just be a normal, happy couple????
I always worry when you get to the final book in a series, hoping that it will live up to my expectations and give me closure on a story that I love......And let me tell you, Jessica Sorensen does not disappoint. Once again, I got lost in the world that Jessica Sorensen has created. I was captivated the entire time and couldn't read fast enough. This book had it all for me: romance, angst, frustration, and a few wtf moments! I'm sad to see that Violet and Luke's story has come to end, but this has been one incredible journey. And if any two characters deserve a HEA, it's certainly these two!

There is no other author that can make me cry, bite my nails, curse, and nearly hyperventilate like Jessica Sorensen. In fact, I hold ALL cliffhangers to “Callie & Kayden” test; as in, no other cliffhanger can ever top it. However, she did come extremely close in Violet and Luke’s first book. This trilogy of books focusing on Violet and Luke has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride. True to its characters, the final book does not let up for one moment. I started this book holding my breath and did not exhale until the last word. While this book is not long, my heart would not have handle anymore intense moments.
As with the other two books, Certainty is told from Violet’s and Luke’s alternating points of view. I do not believe their story could be told any other way. These are two of the most complex and emotionally closed characters I have read. There is no way to know their feelings without the internal dialogue. What is even more miraculous is being able to watch their change as they struggle to finally learn to love and accept one another. I appreciate all the unique twists and turns that these two have faced. It never feels over the top or unnecessary, which can happen with NA books. Jessica is truly a master of angst without ever going over the top to accomplish it. You feel Luke and Violet’s heartaches but also their hope to move on and perhaps find love one day.
I have adored Luke since the first book of this series. He has now solidified himself as one of my all time favorite male characters. His transformation is nothing short of amazing. You will fall in absolute love with his dry humor and loyalty to Violet. He is so far removed from his early self but only in a positive way.Read more ›
