Review

"Buried by Kendra Elliot took me by surprise. 'Engrossed' is too mild a word for what I felt while reading this amazing romantic suspense novel." —Morgan Doremus, RT Editor; RT Book Reviews Seal of Excellence Nominee

"Romantic suspense fans, drop everything — cooking, cleaning, even the dog can wait — because you will have your nose buried in Buried for the next 24 hours. Elliot once again proves to be a genius in the genre with her third heart-pounding novel in the Bone Secrets collection. The author knows romance and suspense, reeling readers in instantaneously and wowing them with an extremely surprising finish. Plus, returning characters from her first two stellar stories make a guest appearance with gusto. Elliot's best by a mile!” —RT Book Reviews Top Pick, 4 1/2 stars (HOT)

After reading the first two books in this series, I was excited to get my hands on this pre-release third installment. This book features Michael Brody, the ex-boyfriend/now good friend of Lacey Campbell from book one.

Twenty years after a school bus filled with children disappears, the remains are finally found. Michael Brody's brother, Daniel, was one of the children who disappeared. Bodies are being unearthed and identified, but the remains of two of the boys are not there. One missing corpse is Chris Jacobs, who managed to escape after a couple years of captivity, and made it home to his family. He was severely scarred, both physically and emotionally, and became an amnesiac hermit who to this day keeps his whereabouts unknown.
As you might guess, the other boy not found is Michael's brother, Daniel. The clues that arise from the findings/remains of the other children only point to more questions, and Michael will not rest until he finds the answers he seeks.

Chris Jacobs (the one who survived), has only one family member left, his sister Jamie who is now a school principal. Since Chris left home, Jamie has never known of Chris' whereabouts, and only has a message number to reach him.
Desperate to find out what happened to his missing brother, Michael is determined to find Chris. He is convinced that Chris does not really have amnesia, and assumes he remembers things that are keeping him in hiding. Being the only known link to Chris, Michael contacts Jamie and after events convince her she has little choice, she joins Michael in the search for her brother.

Like any good mystery/thriller, this story has a very satisfying blend of intrigue, action, and heart pounding scenes.

This is the third installment in Kendra Elliot's debut series, Bones Secrets. If you read the first installment, Hidden, then you have already met Michael Brody, the hero of this book. If you haven't read Hidden you should - it is excellent. However, no worries if you haven't read Hidden this installment is stand-alone...Michael's previous appearance in Hidden is only briefly mentioned in this book and it doesn't alter your overall experience.

The author's writing style is extraordinary. Her superb ability to construct multiple seamless storylines overflowing with trepidation, foreboding and unease is remarkable. The dynamic tempo, realistic dialogue, and dramatic descriptions kept this reader engaged. The natural maturity between the storylines, characters, and the subtle romantic undertones of were perfectly executed.

I have enjoyed all of Kendra Elliot's books, but this one is my favorite so far. I think that she took a tough subject and handled it delicately.

Michael Brody, whom we met in Elliot's first book, is back. He's a reporter, the son of a senator and a famous doctor. His brother was one of several children who disappeared while returning from a school trip. Jamie Jacobs' brother is the only known survivor of that trip. However, he has amnesia and can't help anyone. It's twenty years later and the buried secrets of that trip are about to be uncovered.

I don't want to say too much more about the story, because I don't want to spoil it, but I will say that the story does involve pedophilia. Elliot handled this subject very well - she doesn't hit you over the head with horrible descriptions. On the flip side, she follows in the path of great thrillers that allow your imagination to play out the rest of the scene. And sometimes, what you imagine is worse than what is given to you.

I highly recommend this book. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to her next one.

Kendra is a new author, this is her 3rd in the Bone Secrets series. I have read all 3 and am already waiting for her next book. She hit a home run with this book!
Reporter,Michael Brodys brother disappeared 20 years ago when a school bus full of children was hi-jacked. When the remains of the children were found, Michaels brother was not among them. The lone survivor, Chris Jacobs, has become a recluse fearing the kidnappers will find him. Michael needs to know what happened to his brother and hopes Chris might have some answers for him. This book will have you on the edge of your seat, plenty of suspense, and Kendra always manages to put in an extra twist you won't see coming.

I am hoping Michael Brody drops into my life and decides to stay for a long time! As an avid reader, there are certain things that are important to me in qualifying a book as a super read: a tight, well-written, believable story line, scene descriptives that have all five senses involved in enjoying the read, proper grammar and correct spelling-finding mistakes are like hitting spike strips while cruising down the Interstate at eighty, and characters who are fully fleshed out, who could step out of the pages and be real people with realistic dialogue and actions. Kendra Elliot fulfills every single criteria that for me makes a book worth reading not just once but many times. BURIED, her third book, exceeded all my expectations. It is very obvious that the author enjoys what she does and desires to give her readers a quality product worthy of our money and space on our shelves. She subtly weaves a tapestry of intrigue, pain, heartbreak, redemption, and joy that easily explains why all three of her books are in Amazon's Top 100. I didn't even make it into the house to sit down and read BURIED; I opened the box, sat down in the driveway by the mailbox and didn't get up till the last page was devoured. HIDDEN, CHILLED, and BURIED all have places on my shelves with room left for future Kendra Elloit books.
