Two of the things I love the most about the Virgin River series is the spirit of community in the town where everyone tends to look after each other, to a fault, and how each book revisits the characters from the past that we've enjoyed. This story doesn't disappoint in those respects as all of the Riordans and the Sheridans (and many others in the town) get in the middle of the developing relationship between Patrick, the youngest of the Riordans and Angie, Jack's oldest niece and his heart. Patrick is home on leave, staying in his brother Aiden's cabin after having witnessed his best friend and flying partner's death in a fire fight. His 4-year relationship with his girlfriend has also collapsed and he's now reconsidering his military career. Angie is taking a break from her mother who can't help but smother her after the car accident that left her in a coma for a few weeks and severely injured. Angie is okay but is reconsidering her decision to go to medical school as she wants to live life more fully. Mom thinks she's having a personality change stemming from the accident. They compromise and Angie comes to Virgin River to clear her head.
When Angie walks into Jack's Bar and sees Patrick sitting at the bar, they both have an immediate connection that no one seems to miss. Jack is going nuts as he's not keen on his niece connecting with one of those Riordan boys but Angie is pretty determined and goes full out after Patrick. He's a bit leery as he's almost ten years older and feels an obligation to his buddy's widow. But, Patrick is just as much drawn to Angie as she him.
There are so many funny moments as Jack struggles to deal with Angie's independence and intimate relationship with Patrick, who also has to contend with his meddling brothers and mother.Read more ›

The author pulls out all the emotional stops for this 20th installment in her popular contemporary-romance saga featuring the drama-rich Northern California mountain community.
I got hooked on Robyn Carr's Virgin River series early on; Ms. Carr has the ability to maintain weave multiple story-line, characters, and plots into each book, while still making each one interesting. While you could read this as a stand-along - I wouldn't recommend it- each book is very much connected to the others in the series - as you can see below...
Angie LeCroix, is the niece of Jack Sheridan - Virgin River, #1 and Brie Sheridan - Whispering Rock, #3.
Patrick Riordan, is the brother of Luke Riordan - Temptation Ridge, #6, Sean Riordan - Angel's Peak, #10, Aiden Riordan - Moonlight Road, #11, and Colin Riordan - Wild Man Creek (Virgin River, #14).
It has all of the elements we've come to love in Robyn Carr's stories -great values, strong characters, and great follow through with earlier characters.

I have been waiting and waiting to get back to Virgin River and FINALLY I was able to go!
In My Kind of Christmas we get the story of the last Riordan brother, Patrick. I love, love the Riordan boys and have been looking forward to Paddy's story, and Robyn does not disappoint.
Paddy is in Virgin River on leave from the Navy after witnessing the death of his best friend while in combat. Of course his brothers are all worried about him, but Paddy wants to be left alone. This is not a concept the Riordan boys, or their mother, understand. This is one thing I absolutely love about this family is that they let no one fall. Someone, most likely all of the them, will be there to catch you and pick you up. Paddy is dealing with a lot and trying to keep his brothers at bay.
Angela LeCroix is recovering from a car accident that almost took her life. Her mother wants the old Angie back, but Angie view of her life and the world have changed. Angie's mom wants her back in medical school. The sooner the better.
Angie heads to Virgin River to stay with her Uncle Jack so she can finally decide what she wants to do with her life. Her first night is town she see Paddy and it is over from there!
Paddy wants Angie from the moment he sees her, but know he has a promise and duty to fulfill and can not get involved with someone like Angie. But he does not let that stop him one bit.
I loved Paddy and Angie together. Again, Robyn writes a wonderful love story about first love that draws you in. We get to see some of our old friends. This was a different Virgin River story for me. This story is focused on Paddy and Angie, there are no side stories in their book, which I missed, but did not make me love this book any less than the others.Read more ›

Angie LeCroix survives a horrific auto accident and finds she needs to re-evaluate her life and get away from her mother who badgers her about returning to medical school. The fact is, Angie's no longer sure that being a doctor is what she wants. For now, she wants to kick back and enjoy the small things in life--things she had no time for in the rush to excel. What better way to discover what she wants than to spend time in Virgin River with her Uncle Jack Sheridan and Aunt Brie Valenzuela?
Patrick Riordan, the youngest of the rough and tumble Riordan boys, is the sweet one. He's also a Navy pilot about to be reassigned to a squadron. It used to be what he wanted; now he's not so sure. He's just been dumped by his girlfriend of four years s and he's in a quandary about his future. For now, he's on an ordered leave of absence and spending it in Virgin River near his brother Luke seems like a good idea.
Both Angie and Patrick need time alone, but when they meet, sparks fly, and soon they are thinking they'd like time away from their families, but want to spend it together. A fling seems just about right, but fate has a different plan for them.
As usual, Robyn's Virgin River series never fails to intrigue this reviewer. I've loved every book and My Kind of Christmas ranks high on the list of favorites. Both Angie and Patrick are delightful characters, however, I was also glad to welcome back appearances from so many of the Virgin River characters from past stories. Then there's Angie's and Patrick's boisterous families who seem to know exactly what the two lovers need, regardless of their own plans.
Ms. Carr concludes this wonderful series in grand style. I was sorry to see it end.
