Ms. Michael's A Family Affair, simply put, shines. It was a pleasure to read something positive about the two primary cultures interweaving. It was even more enjoyable to get to know the characters, and experience true romance without the soft porn element so prevalent these days. Brava!!!!

What woman (no matter what her age) doesn't want a prince charming to save her from the toil and tribulations of life?? Fern Michaels books always have the best combination. Even when there is conflict, the joys of romance, love, and family can pull you through - even if it is fiction!!!! We could all use a little escapism and this is a fine place to go!!!

I enjoyed this story. I listened to the audio CD. Once I got past the accent of the Arab men who all sounded like stereotypical Indians mixed with the Coneheads, I enjoyed this mental Twinkie. This is my first Fern Michael's book, and I would read/listen to another. As mental junk food, it serves it's purpose in providing entertainment. I have known many Muslim people, and in my opinion, this is not a researched representation. The story is a fantasy, but it is so unrealistic, it almost gets in the way. Malik's behavior was explained because he went to school for years in the US and likes the American lifestyle. However, Malik is also a prince and would probably be counseled strongly against marrying outside his culture and religion.

Sorry guys...I just hated this book..I feel there was so much more that could have been done with this story..Definitely depressing and not even bittersweet. I must have pre-ordered this because I luv her books, but not this one. Right now I wish I hadn't read it.. if you are looking for a book that makes you laugh and cry and just feel good DON'T buy it! I am not even sure who wrote it!
