Glued to the pages from the first chapter.
There's nothing better than starting a book and being sucked into it so thoroughly that you refuse to put it down, Branded with do this for you!
This story has love, hate, heartbreak, loss, forgiveness, family drama, everything you could ever ask for all bundled up in a well written story and did I mention cowboys? Yes, hot, strong, alpha maleness in a pair of boots on every page! I fell in love with all the characters even though some weren't particularly loveable in the beginning but they do grow on you.
These boys will worm their way into your heart and have you begging for the next book in the series when you finish Branded.

I don't do spoilers, I hate them, I think the best parts of a book should be experienced through reading it, so all you get is my opinion and my opinion is Branded is a must read!!

A family full of secrets, a ranch in trouble, and a woman who will stop at nothing to save them both. BRANDED is a first in a brand new series by the always talented Laura Wright. Being familiar with her HELLA SEXY paranormal books with the Mark of the Vampire Series, I had no doubt that Ms. Wright would bring the heat in a Contemporary Western Romance such as this gem. Lorelei James is usually my GO TO author for this genre, but Laura Wright just moved herself up on that very list. Scorching, emotional, and exciting, BRANDED kept me up till the wee hours of the morning. I was too engrossed in Deacon and Mac's story to even think about putting this baby down early.

❝I know I've never tasted anything better than your mouth. No hotter, sweeter place in the world.❞

Deacon Cavanaugh is the first Cavanaugh brother we get our hands on. Being the eldest, he has no problem saying what he wants, when he wants, to whomever he wants. He is gorgeous, successful, and filthy rich. He is also holding a tremendous grudge against his family's Triple C Ranch. He wants it gone...like yesterday. The memories it holds is tearing him, as well as his family apart. Returning home for his father's funeral, Deacon is determined to finally put this thing to rest, and purchase his brother's shares of the ranch, and destroy it once and for all. Piece of cake...right? Not so much! Mackenzie Byrd, the Triple C Ranch's foreman is practically family. She has known the Cavanaugh's ever since she was a little girl. She knows what Deacon Cavanaugh is up to and she plans on putting the brakes on that real quick.

So, I just finished Branded by Laura Wright, which happens to be the first book in her new series The Cavanaugh Brothers. I have to say that I really enjoyed the beginning of the series.

Branded introduces us to the Cavanaugh brothers who are returning to the family ranch for the funeral of their father. Deacon, the oldest, would love nothing more than to see the property demolished. All he has to do is wait with his brothers, James and Cole, for the reading of the will. However, dear old dad had a surprise when he claims a bastard child in his will, Blue Perez (Cavanaugh). So, this sets the tone of the story. Secrets are starting uproot. Plus, you get to hear Cass's, their decease sisters, voice. Which there is a mystery behind her death that was never solve. So, that adds to the story and I hope we get to know what happens to Cass by the end of the series.

Anyway, Branded focus more on Deacon and his plan to level their childhood home to ground. However, there are couple obstacles in the way: 1) The will and what it revealed. 2) Mackenzie Bird.

Some people may not like Deacon, because he's power hungry and bent on vengeance. You never fully comprehend his reasoning for wanting to destroy everything he has ever known until we get closer to the end. However, I didn't mind Deac. He did soften up a bit in the story thanks to Mac.

Now Mac was an awesome character. She was best friend with Cass, and took her death pretty hard. However, she survived, and ended up being the foreman on the Triple C Ranch. I love her, because she's passionate about the ranch and she doesn't take any guff from the guys, especially Deacon.

I enjoyed their chemistry. They both give a good fight for what they believe in.

Branded is a fast and furious start to the Cavanaugh series. Right away you are pulled into an emotional firestorm you can't help but connect to in the hopes you never really experience it in the real world: the abduction and death of a child you love.

At it's core, Branded establishes that an unsolved crime of that magnitude causes ripple effects lasting years whether the murdered person was a friend or a family member, and that justice and revenge are far from being the same thing.

Kudos to Laura Wright for making us care so much, so quickly, about the deceased and those who survive her. The romance between Deac and Mac is bitter before it gets to the sweet. There's great emotional set up for the rest of the Cavanaughs and I for one look forward to James, Cole and Blue's stories as they too deal with the aftermath of their sister's murder.
