Review

“This is a really sexy book and I loved the heroine’s journey to find herself and grow strong. Highly recommend this one.”—USA Today’s Happily Ever After Blog

“Young’s voice is riveting and once I opened the book, I wanted to hang a 'do not disturb' sign around my neck until I was finished. This book definitely landed on my 2012 top picks!”—Fiction Vixen

“This book had some funny dialogue, some amazingly hot sex scenes, and emotional drama. Did I mention the amazing sex scenes?”—Dear Author

“This book is fun. Sexy. A little dark. While the hero is extremely dominant, he also shows his softer side just when she needs it.”—Smexy Books

“Every page sizzles when these two get together, but this book is so much more than a hot romp. This book has heart – and lots of it…IF you want a book that will lure you in, grab you by the scruff of the neck and never let you go until you finish reading the last page, then On Dublin Street is the book for you.”—totallybookedblog.com

“Brilliantly written with just the right amount of hotness, sexiness and romance and everything else in between.”—onceuponatwilight.com

I've read all of Ms. Young's YA books and enjoyed them, so I knew that I would probably enjoy this one too. I didn't realize I would be so blown away by it. It is very much an ADULT book, not for the YA set. Her writing style transitions very well to adult contemporary romance. It was everything the genre should be. Like the previous reviewer, I enjoyed the fact that the female was standoffish and being chased by the male. It was not a light read; It deals with death, loss and some very destructive behavior. The way Ms. Young wove Joss' conversations with her therapist into the story was very effective and a good technique. The relationship between Joss and Braden was perfectly choreographed, though a little focused on sex. I would have liked to see a little more of Braden's emotions. I thought Joss' character, emotions and reactions were well-written and very believable.

However, at the end of the day, I found myself a bit ambivalent about the whole novel at best. It started off well enough but about the half-way point when all Joss and Braden seem to do was have sex while he obviously wanted something more and she tried to act skittish, I found myself becoming bored and uninterested.

If I could sum up this novel best, nothing really happens and maybe that is the biggest issue I had with it. Don't get me wrong, I can understand all the accolades this book is getting and fair play to the author because she has written an amazing love story. I will eventually finish it but I just became a bit put off by the redundancy of it all. This novel could have easily had about a fourth of its content shaved off and been just as good.

Like another reviewer, I couldn't bond with Joss and I didn't really get that much out of Braden either. I don't know if he was supposed to have a bad boy quality because it was all a bit predictable. Multi-millionaire guy who loves to date blondes finds a woman with dirty blonde hair he is so attracted to, he can let go of all the other money grubbers in his life. Well, Joss is independently wealthy (due to an accident that is best found out when one reads the book) and she has the world on her shoulders. She's outwardly cold but extremely vulnerable and THAT is why Braden was attracted to her from the beginning and never let go. There is something about a vulnerable woman that will get a guy every time and her sincerity didn't hurt her either. She was real so I can understand why he would go through all the effort he did to get with her.

This novel's biggest short coming had nothing to do with the book and everything to do with ME.

Samantha brings on the sexy with her first adult romance! Braden is wealthy, attractive, and has a tendency to be a bit of an overbearing ass. Joss is beautiful, sassy, and completely messed up emotionally. Together they make a couple who isn't just hot, but also interesting. I love the way Samantha slowly reveals the details of their past, building her trust with the reader as Braden and Joss built their trust with each other. And the bedroom scenes... *fans self* Any doubts as to whether a YA writer could make an adult novel steamy enough have certainly been laid to rest!

Jocelyn Butler has learn to keep herself at a distance, loving people hurts, especially when she seems to be a bad luck charm for those around her. But after moving into a new flat it becomes increasingly difficult for Jocelyn to keep her distance not only from her bubbly and friendly new room mate Ellie but also from Ellie's hot older brother Braden who seems to be doing his best to get over her defenses and into her knickers...

I decided to give this book a try for two reasons, reason number one, all the good reviews I had seen; reason number two, I really liked the cover! I have come to the conclusion I may need new friends and that I am a cover whore! Okay so I may be exaggerating about the new friends thing, I didn't think it was awful, but after all the fabulous reviews I was expecting something to blow me away, I am feeling distinctly unblown. In my opinion it isn't that much different from other things I have read and doesn't stand out from the crowd.

Another point I had trouble with was the heroine, Joss, I just didn't connect with her at all, on an intellectual level I understood and sympathized with her predicaments but emotionally she didn't resonate with me at all. Braden was hot and I liked his determination to win over Joss, but I wasn't really wowed by him either.

So you are probably wondering when I will stop whinging about this book, after all I gave it three feathers not one or two! What I did like about this book was how hot it was, Braden and Joss may have had no chemistry with me, but with each other they were off the charts and I do love a man who talks dirty!

Wow this was an awesome book. The story is just so Amazing, I so loved it from start to finish. I had so many emotions throughout the whole book, I was sad, mad, happy, laughing so hard on some parts and ect. Braden and Jocelyn are just perfect for each other in every way. Don't want to spoil this, because if I keep going I will. But this book was really Amazing, if you love Samantha Young's other books You will Certainly love this one too. Believe me it is so worth it.
