The twenty-second edition of Goode's World Atlas results from the latest blend of geographic scholarship and GIS technology for map production, and thus is a major reworking of the atlas, not just an update. It offers new maps on topics ranging from global climate change to water resources, and provides an outstanding survey for any library seeking the latest geographic resources.

I have some atlas books which are Times, DK,
Oxford(leather binding)and Britannica atlas(1988).
Of course, The Times atlas has most detailed maps and
many place name(about 200,000).
But it is too large and heavy. Also, DK and Oxford.
This completely updated atlas is light and compact
(thin paper, hard cover, 1195g, 28.3 x 23.0 x 2.3cm, 400pages)
but has many useful information and detailed maps for its volume.
So, I always going together with this atlas.
And, I will present this atlas to my father and friend.

The map scales are ;
Most of US and some part of canada 1 ; 4,000,000
Most of Europe 1 : 4,000,000 but Italy, Greece and Balkans 1 : 4,500,000
Caucasus 1 : 4,000,000 Middle East(Israel Iran etc.) 1 : 4,000,000
Persian Gulf 1 : 4,000,000 Korea and a part of Japan 1 : 4,000,000
Southeast Asia 1 : 8,000,000 Philippines 1 : 5,000,000
Most of Africa 1 : 12,000,000 Most of South America 1 : 10,000,000
A Part of Australia 1 : 8,000,000 New Zealand : 1 : 6,000,000
And many many city maps 1 : 1,000,000

But, the atlas needs to update Express way in South Korea.

I still have the Goode's Atlas I used in college, but it was extremely weatherd and 30 years out of date. Now, it's better than ever. With about 100 new countries since I last bought it, it's a good friend to have nearby when tracking news in the mid-east, asia, and all the rest of the world. Each area is covered with excellent political, physical, soil, natural resources, language, farming, etc maps. Numerous maps on major urban areas. Thoughtful graphics on a numerous demographic, resource production and consumption, education, income, etc. I love paging through this, it always teaches me something new or reminds me of what i've forgotten...or gives me ideas on where I should go next.

First, I must confess an abnormal appreciation for maps and charts of any kind, thanks to a scientific bent. Still, hours spent delving through this volume brought almost complete serenity. Detail, correctness, surprising and effective combinations -- this is the atlas I have needed and have already worn through. Addictive. Thanks.

Although this atlas is a bit expensive, it is an excellent value. A wealth of knowledge can be found inside the cover. I expected to see accurate maps of the world, but so much more information is there. Climates, wind patterns, rainfall, population, and much much more. Even detailed maps of the oceans. I would recommend this atlas to anyone, especially if they have a child in school or one attending college.

The book is good.

But when trying to look for some details from the maps, we found the national geography's atlas is more easy to read.

It may be due to the resolution of the print, the color used, etc.

...statistical maps that are going mostly out of date as of 2014... other than that, cheaper than a bunch of separate physical or political maps, and it does have them all in detail- learn yer states and their major physical features! all the statistical stuff if great if you are taking a calss that uses this atlas, i'm learning that i'd hate to live in india...
