We purchased this guide as well as Lonely Planet and Rick Steve's Guide to Spain.
All three are good but Rick Steve's turned out to be the easiest to use and packed with the most useful details

This book is great. It has all the history of the country and the different regions, pictures, cut aways of the cathedrals, mosques etc, so you can see what is inside before you get there, it does street-by-street tours of the larger cities, talkes about the food and wine in each region and much more.

I went to Italy in 2001, and I left my travel books on the coffee table, so the only travel book I could find in the airport was DK Eyewitness Travel. How lucky was I, this was my first one and will not buy anything but these books. I also have the ones on France and London and will buy the one for every country I visit.

Spain is a lovely country to visit, it is a hidden in plain view, jewel of Europe. It is different in every region, from the north, east, south and central. The people are nice, the food is very good and wine is cheaper than bottled water.

. A lot of good information. Too heavy to travel with though. I enjoy the pictures in DK Eyewitness Travel books. The detailed street description of the building is great too.

DK has truly the best travel guides out there. It sure helps that they illustrate with pictures what they say and their recommendations are always reliable. I use solely DK travel guides.

There is an unbelievable amount of information in this book. History, culture, regional sites. I recommend it for a great overview of Spain. Lots of photos, I won't take it with me as it's weighty but will take notes or photo pages onto my cell phone for easy access.

Very good reference with informative narratives. Photos are very pleasing to the eye and it is a great keepsake to remember our trip. The drawback is that it is not as user friendly as other guidebooks we have used. It is more formal and a bit more difficult to use. I guess you might say it is less straight forward than others. That said, it is still a solid guide.

Very good book to have if you are planning a trip to Spain. I always recommend this book along with the book "Modern Spain" to understand what the country really is all about.

I purchased both this guide and Rick Steves' Spain (RSS). What maps it contains have rich detail and the photos are impressive. Compared to RSS, this book covers more cities and sights. But as a result, its descriptions are more terse when compared to those covered in RSS. I'm certainly happy that I purchased this book, but I must say that I ended up using RSS much more in planning an upcoming trip to Spain. My recommendation would be to buy both guidebooks (not really an extravagance when compared to the cost of a trip).
