Touring plans now contain advice for how to use Fastpass+ in conjunction with the plans. For each step in which we suggest Fastpass, we'll tell you the approximate time at which the Fastpass return window should start to fit in the plan. This allows you to request the correct return time from Disney's Fastpass+ system.
If Disney limits the number of Fastpasses you can obtain, each touring plan also contains a prioritized list, from most important to less important, showing you which Fastpass+ attractions to get first.

More About the Author
Bob Sehlinger, a Lowell Thomas Award winning journalist, is best known as the creator and producer of the Unofficial Guide Series published by Wiley Publishing Inc. and sold worldwide.
He is credited with being the first to apply research techniques from the fields of operations research and statistics to travel guides. Among other projects, he was able to develop mathematical models that could save theme park patrons more than three hours of standing in queue in a single day.
Sehlinger and his research team (pictured) have had numerous adventures and developed some unusual methodologies. Here's a sampling from research for The Unofficial Guide To Walt Disney World:
"We've slept in every Disney resort multiple times and more than 80 Orlando-area properties. Only once did we wake up covered in bugs. (It was a non-Disney hotel.)"
"We test hotel room soundproofing using a sophisticated digital sound meter and a copy of The Who's Greatest Hits."
"The first time we did Orlando spa reviews, one of our researchers had an eyebrow burned off during a waxing that went horribly awry."
"We once logged more than 700 miles in one week on buses to test Disney's transportation system, and never left Disney property. The bus drivers got so used to us being on board that one forgot we were there and took us back to the bus garage when his shift ended."
"We test pillow fluffiness using a measurement process we invented. We intended to use a fake human head as part of the test, but worried about getting it through airport security. We settled on a gallon jug of water, which is about the same size and weight as an average adult's noggin."
"When we test counter-service restaurants, we order at least one of everything on the menu, and break up in to small teams to sample each thing. We've tried every counter-service food item in every American Disney theme park."
"Our crowd prediction models take in to account everything from the day of week and time of year, to the vacation schedules of the fifty largest school districts east of the Mississippi, to weather phenomena including temperature, rainfall and humidity."
Bob Sehlinger is founder and co-owner of Keen Communications, a book publishing company that includes Menasha Ridge Press in Birmingham, Alabama; Clerisy Press in Cincinatti, Ohio; and Wilderness Press in Berkeley, California. The author of twenty-seven books, Sehlinger is a past president of the Publishers Association of the South, and has served at the invitation of the U.S. State Department and the U.S. Information Service on educational missions for publishers in Hungary, Romania, and Russia.
Before becoming involved in writing and publishing, Sehlinger was CEO of SAGE, inc., a wilderness arts teaching and expeditional company that produced courses in kayaking, rock climbing, survival, and backpacking (among others) for high schools and universities in a 7-state area. During this period Sehlinger served as president of the Eastern Professional River Outfitters Association. Sehlinger makes his home in Birmingham, Alabama where he continues to be an avid river runner and mountain biker.

When Len Testa said that there were to be major updates in what many of us consider to be the best guide (official or unofficial), that turned out to be an understatement. I only listed the "new" parts to the 2014 edition, but there are many more updates to the other sections as well. Here are most of the new items:

I like to plan all my vacations ahead organizing the whole journey, and not using travel agencies, to be able to see and experience as much as possible. Due to that I like different kinds of guides who are full of practical information that help visitor, whether if it's for the first time or several times visited location.
Also, I learned that unofficial guides are usually better than the official ones, given that they aren't burdened with what they have to write, but include what are for passengers and visitors the most important and useful information.
One of such excellent guides is this one that let you learn everything you need for visiting Walt Disney World and plan your perfect vacation whether for a day or several of them. Taking into account that Walt Disney World occupies a large area and has so many interesting things to do, it is really must-have to have a guide of some kind. And this guide will be recommended one from me, based on my own experience with previous editions but also with this one that is seriously updated from the previous release.
You'll find information about transportation, accommodation and food, and of course lot of detailed information about the main and not so famous attractions you can find inside all the parks. For me the best part about this unofficial guide is their honesty, because the authors can afford to be honest when they critically speak about some attraction that doesn't live up to their own expectations. Maybe that will not be case for you but you'll get some warning ahead, up to each reader to judge herself/himself.Read more ›

This is an interesting entertaining and informative book. Cannot say enough good things about this book. This is a must for anyone planning a trip to Walt Disney World (along with Touringplans.com). This book is on the your side, not Disney's, it breaks down the rides and explains how they appeal to all age groups. They also review the restaurants, hotels (both in and out of the World), and all of this with a sense of humor, that lends to the enjoyment of the book.
They are also not afraid to provide opinions and comments of readers that disagree with them.

I am planning a 2015 trip (originally going for 2014 but had to change plans) I've been to Disney once but this book really offers so much useful information. I would really recommend this book to anyone planning a trip to Disney. The hotel information is really valuable and I enjoyed the rating system.

I bought the 2013 guide and it was extremely helpful in planning our first trip to Disney, although there was very little information about the Guest Assistance Card for special needs. The GAC was so easy to use that there did not really need to be that much information in the guide.
Disney made a major change last year to move away from the GAC to the new Disability Access Service Card in October of 2013. I bought the 2014 guide hoping it would explain how the DAS worked and how to use it with the new Fast Pass system. Unfortunately in the 2014 guide there was not even a reference that a change had been made. They still talked about the GAC - and did not say much about it. No information at all about the DAS.
I really wasted my money buying the guide again. I hope that in the next edition the authors will make more of an effort to explain how Disney accommodates special needs. I'll be doing my research on Google.
