I just bought this in early November and felt like it was written the day before. I loved the portability and digestibility of the content since it had more than enough in each category and was really useful while running around the city. I could tell it had a strong point of view, which I appreciate since that is why I buy guide books. I don't like endless options....I want the best recommendations from people who know, and that came through here. Also, the itinerary recommendations for 1, 2 and 3 days were really helpful.
All in all, I really loved the format, the quick sections and strong recommendations, as well as the feeling that I was getting to know the writer and agree with her point of view.

I've never written a review before for any travel book. Honestly - we usually buy a book almost as a security blanket and end up online searching for details anyway. In the day of most things are searchable on line - why buy a book - right?
This book was fabulous! We were in NYC for 6 days on a family vacation with 2 teenagers. This book was perfect. Great tips. Good insight on what to skip and what to hit. Traveled well in our daypack. At the end of our trip it's dog-eared and well used (and revisited).
I did lots of "trust but verify" searches on line - for restaurants, hotels, places to see. Honestly, the book was dead-on and never steered us wrong. We couldn't do everything we wanted to - but it really helped prioritize. Nice snippets of historical facts and details. Even pointed us to the right subway planner app (hopstop) and the best discounter tickets for the basics (city pass).
Well worth the $.

When my husband and I visited for 1 1/2 days in December 2013, this guidebook was an invaluable source. The map included was extremely helpful, and by following many of the tips and advice offered, we were able to fill our time with many exciting, fun activities. Highly recommended!

I used this book time and time again while planning and then while there. I really like that there are directions and subway lines and stops for every location. My only drawback would be to offer an index for quick reference. I found I kept notes of destinations on my cell phone and had to go back through the book to find the page with specifics. If there were an index, it would be a much more useful reference guide. With that said, I have already bought the same book for San Francisco!

I was looking for a book about what to do when I arrive to New York City and this is just what I was looking for. It has a very complete list of places to visit, such as museums, restaurants, parks, buildings and so on. Whoever wrote this knows a lot about Gotham and he/she did a really good job recommending his/her favorite places and giving some really useful advice about what to do, when to do it, how to get to those places, how to save some money on your visit to the Big Apple and much more.

This is a great guide and in perspective of a traveler. Five night was not enough time to visit all the museums and this guide helped in picking and choosing what to do.
