My friends told me about this book in 2012 and we used it for Vegas last year. The coupon for the Flame Steakhouse at El Cortez pays for the book itself. My wife used it a lot more than I since I was mainly playing poker tournaments all day, but she got her money's worth out of the book. Could we have used it more yes, but that was more my fault since I was playing so much poker.
This year I was a little worried about getting the book after reading a couple of reviews here. I'm glad I don't listen to negative reviews that much. Someone said there are less coupons and it's not worth it. They were wrong there are a lot more coupons, they did take out a lot of other states coupons which I'm happy with. I want the book for Vegas and I was very happy when I looked at it last night. First off the Flame Steakhouse is still in there, which pays for the book. I'm staying downtown again and there are 4 coupons in the book for the casino I'm staying at and there were none in it last year. So I'm very happy with the book and I'm not planning on playing poker all day and night this trip so I know we will even get more out of the book then last year.
I should state this though, if you are staying on the strip and don't plan on coming downtown the value of the book isn't as great. You can still get your money's worth with places in New York or Planet Hollywood and a few other places. But really the book is perfect for downtown. Last year was the first time I stayed downtown, it's a lot better than it use to be and still cheap to stay and eat unlike the strip. Plus I've heard they have even made more improvements downtown from when I was there last May. So maybe try going downtown and really use the book to it's fullest.

Bought this with no idea.. but for $12.. figured why not..
i ended up using the las vegas coupons for a buffet.... food court... wax musieum.. and comedy magic show... so it more then paid for itself and saved me $$... i just took the coupons not the book on the trip.... no place questioned the coupons so that was a plus as well..

Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Length: 7:18 Mins
3 Parts to the book: 1) a basic guide to casino games, like blackjack and video poker 2) a guide to physical locations, phone numbers and web sites to every casino in the U.S. 3) coupons.

Most of the coupons are for Las Vegas, and most of those are for the downtown and off the Strip casinos. If you are only going to be on The Strip, this book may not be worth it. If you are staying in downtown Vegas, this book and the coupons are worth the price of the book.

This is a really good book for anyone planning a trip to a casino, especially if you're going to Vegas. It has a lot of good tips on proper bets to make and a lot of coupons that if used will pay for the book.

Now in a newly updated 2002 edition, the American Casino Guide is a superbly presented and highly recommended reference for both casual casino visitors and people with a yearning to learn more about the games and their odds. From a comparison of the house edge in different casino games to a brief study and focus upon individual games such as slot clubs, slot machines, video poker, blackjack, craps, roulette, and much more, to a state-by-state listing of the best casinos, American Casino Guide has it all. The 2002 edition pays for itself not only in terms of strategies to improve one's gaming skills, but also in more than $1000 worth of valuable casino coupons that can be clipped out of the book itself! If you are planning a visit to the gaming tables of Atlantic City or Las Vegas, begin with the 2002 edition of the American Casino Guide!

Format: Paperback
The "American Casino Guide" is a valuble resource for quickly locating the best places to gamble. Why waste your time checking out places that don't offer you the best games and are merely looking to rip you off? This book can save you a lot of leg work, aggravation and money.

For this book to be of any real use to you, you need to read it carefully, make notes as you go and read between the lines. The group who assembled this guide apparently wanted to be very careful to avoid offending any of the casino owners or operators. The information you need is all there, but it needs some interpretation, and you will have to use some judgement about the games you play.

Although their information on how to play the various games is essentially sound, they don't really distinguish between games that are worth playing and those that will eat your lunch. For that kind of information, you should read some of the books that have a more critical point of view, such as: How To Gamble At The Casinos Without Getting Plucked Like A Chicken by James Harrison Ford or Getting the Best of It by David Sklansky.

Although you can develop the information that this book offers on your own, buying and reading this book will be money and time well spent. Just one visit to a casino that doesn't give you the best odds can cost a lot more than the price of this book.
