If you want a historical atlas that shows the vast and long lived Eastern Roman Empire that we call the Byzantine Empire this atlas is USELESS. Images jump from 400AD into the years PAST Byzantium, totally ignoring the most influential empire of its era. SEVEN Centuries of Empire which held back the militant expansion of Islam.
If you want a historical atlas that shows the spread of any religion EXCEPT Islam, you are out of luck with this historical Atlas. No maps showing the territory of Buddism, or Hinduism, or Christianity. ONLY maps showing how Islam spread.
So, this is a historical atlas for the student of history who only wants to learn about Islam and prefers to remain ignorant of the historical record where other religions are concerned.
But if you are a Christian home school family-- don't waste your money. Byzantium was a HUGE empire that lasted a thousand years past the fall of Rome, they evangelized Russia, they saved the West from Islam,--and this "historical atlas" ignores them completely.
I love history and was very hopeful to have some useful maps of the Roman empire up through the 13th century at least. What a waste!

THIS ATLAS IS A MUST FOR ANY TRAVELER. ITS FITS WELL INTO CARRY -ONS. YOU GET EXTREMELY NICE MAPS. I HOPE I DIDN 'T RATE IT TOO LOW. IT CONTAINS NO HISTORY AS SOME OTHER ATLASES, BUT THE SIZE AND GRAPHICS ARE WONDERFUL.
