we recently spent 5 days in Paris and north eastern france with a good GPS and a chip for europe...if you are like us and cant just close your eyes and pray that the GPS is accurate (and like having some information you cant get from GPS) this is a great mamp system and very well made

We used this Atlas when we were in France last month. It had every single road - even single lane ones out in the country - on it. We didn't get lost ever using this map. It is large and it is heavy. Initially, I whined about its weight (weight matters these days when you are taking only one suitcase!). However, after the first day of driving; I was congratulating my husband on his perspicacity in buying this Atlas. Excellent map!!

This is a very exceptional map! We are living part time in France and this map book has been wonderful to use. A bit bulky but really very accurate and worth every penny to have in the car. GPS is great but when you want the bigger picture this map does it all!

Very good and detailed map of France. Will be useful on our trip to France next month. A little pricey but worth it.

I got this for my dad (a map freak), since they were going to France for their 50th anniversary. He loved it! It is surprisingly thick at ~1-1/2". (It has lots of detail.)

Well-marked roads and plenty of detail for most travel in the countryside. Even if you have a GPS this is a great supplement for planning routes. You can see more area at a glance and the color coding of major vs. minor roads is better than what I've seen on GPS maps, allowing you to overrule the GPS if it tries to send you onto a one-lane back road to shave a few hundred meters off your route.

The only change I would like to see is having it ring-bound instead of spiral bound, so you could just take the pages you need for your trip without having to tear them out. The atlas is a bit bulky and heavy if you're trying to travel light and visiting only one or two regions of France. Of course you could buy individual paper maps for the regions you need; however, this is a better value and a more compact format.

Ubiquitous. These seem to be sold at every highway rest stop in France. If you need to find how to get from point A to point B in France, then this is the atlas for you. We drove some not-much-improved roads in our journey through the French countryside -- some historic sites are on barely-improved roads, for example. The city maps could use some tweaking (we wandered around Mulhouse a bit). This is a road atlas and railway lines are not well delineated. Books like this are becoming obsolete as folks switch to GPS devices, though this presents alternative routings and shows the lay of the land better than any GPS device I've seen.

Really good map coverage of France. However, the detailed city maps do not show a large enough area to show the entry into the cities from the main autoroutes.
