Unless you are interested in reading almost 500 pages of restaurant and hotel reviews, stay away from the Michelin Guide for Hong Kong. The Eyewitness book is excellent. The only criticism I have is that the print could have been larger, but then again this would probably have made to book too bulky to carry around.
This book covers almost everything from arriving in Hong Kong to departing Hong Kong. There are about 20 pages of Do's and Dont's which I think are very important. The book has numerous suggestions for day trips, weekend trips, or longer stays. I love it. The book has recommendations on how to tour the city by bus, auto, and or walking. There are numerous tips on how to visit museums, temples, markets, hospitals, dentists, etc.

Just completed a 16 day tour to the Orient/Far East visiting; Hong Kong, Bali, Singapore and Bangkok. I bought the Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok versions of the Top 10 tour book. No Bali book was available. All contained a fantastic wealth of information and allowed me to optimize my limited time in each country by organizing and focusing me on the sites that truly mattered. This left substantially more time for seeing unexpected sites and really enjoying the culture while I was there, vice feeling rushed just to see everything. I whole-heartedly recommend this Top 10 series of books. I will always use to support my future travels.

Hong Kong Top 10 is another winning travel guide by DK. The organization and illustrations suited us very well. Our only criticism -- and it's an important one -- is that the area map in the back pocket was just too darn small to be of any use.

Bought it without looking at the sample (my mistake). The images are very small, not like the printed edition, which is why I like DK guides for. It is not very comfortable to read about a place and then having to turn back the pages to find it in the tiny map.

This is not a thorough/complete guide to Hong Kong, but it is an excellent quick reference. It gives a brief summary of top sites, things to do, transportation, etc., and the tourist canget adequate information for more reference, or adding to or deleting from their "to do" list. Inexpensive and very portable to take on a trip.
