It was great travel tool to have available on my kindle. My son and I travelled to the Costa del Sol and travelled daily to destinations. We used the book while in cities. There was so much information about the Alhambra in Granada that we used this for our own personal tour. We planned our trips daily and had the opportunity to visit Malaga, Cadiz, Seville, Rhonda, Granada and several beautiful small towns. The guide also helped in planning our excursions. We did half a day in Gibraltor. We also took a ferry to Morocco and spent the night. The trip was awesome and weather perfect.

We know a lot about Spain and plan a trip there for 50 days this year. Knowing a lot, we have big expectations for a reference book. We've always depended on Fodors to give us accurate and imformed information. This one for 2014 is excellent and a good value, too. There is a difference between Fodors and other providers, albeit in the eye of the reader, but we have become accustomed to the Fodor format and appreciate the accuracy of the information.

As usual, this Fodors guide does a great job of highlighting the best places to see. The only problem, which is actually quite annoying, is that it is not clear on how to get to a specific city from another city. Most people are not likely to spend their entire time in one city and will likely travel around. For example, this Fodors guide will tell you that you can take AVE train, but will not say where the AVE train lands, or how to get to the city center from there, you will be using the internet to figure all that out. It is also very unclear that the AVE trains are actually operated by RENFE, as are all the other main trains in Spain, so you will need to do that research on RENFE website. Other than that, this guide really peaked my interest in Spain and helped me plan an interesting itinerary.

Fodor always gives a very thorough review of travel destinations. The books provide good descriptions of places to stay and to eat with a variety of price ranges to select. He also helps prioritize locations to visit at each location. Fodor's books at least give some assurance that a travel professional is providing the advice not some anonymous web tipster who could be the owner of the hotel or restaurant.

Fodor's Spain is extremely informative. I've enjoyed reading about parts of Spain I hadn't even planned on visiting. The detailed background of such activities as flamenco dancing and bullfighting are very educational. It's a real benefit to learn all there is to know about a country before visiting it. I hope to put my Rosetta Stone lessons to good use when I go - by next spring.

We used the Fodor's Guide (an older copy) on a trip we took to Gibraltar several years ago. The guide was helpful. This place is very special as we learned it was part of the British Oveseas Territory. It was run by the British but yet it was right there geographically with Spain. The history of Gibraltar is pretty fascinating and worth studying up on before a trip and visit to the area, to give a greater appreciation for what it is today. The guide book told us we would find barbary apes at the top of Gibraltar. We were hoping to see lots of them and we weren't disappointed. At the same time, the book told us they can be pretty "friendly" and especially if you have treats they are aware of and would like you to share with them. They definitely love to share (only you sharing with them though). I was 6 months pregnant when we were here. I sat down to rest on a wall and within less than a minute, I had one on either side of me and we got a great picture. I think they were waiting for me to get out some treats for them. Later on, we did see them get pretty "friendly" with a little boy. His dad gave him a little bag of crackers and within a matter of seconds, they were out of the little boy's hands and in theirs. Not only did the Fodor's Guide warn travelers about this kind of behavior but so did everyone working there. If you are in the geographical area of Spain around Gibraltar, Gibraltar is a special trip worth making for sure. Just be sure to read up on the history of the area first and take the Fodor's guide for other good-to-know info while visiting.

Practical and helpful publication. Included is a good map and pictures to bring all the interesting information together. We're ready to travel and enjoy Spain later this year.
