I haven't yet traveled in Alaska with this book, so I don't know the accuracy of the descriptions offered therein. However, the organization of the text and the detail of the information is excellent. The book is organized into geographic sections that begin with a general description of the area and attractions. This section is followed by detailed descriptions of campgrounds and other attractions. The book appears very useful for RV camping, and would be useful for other modes of camping as well. In fact, I learned of the book from a book on motorcycle camping in Alaska.

Clear, concise and just the information you need. Gives a good description of the campgrounds, and needed information to determine if it is suitable for big rigs, which I have. It is also the best information I have found on the sites to see along the route. Much better than the highly touted Milepost.

I have a 2005 edition of this book and am buying the updated one now for our 4th trip to AK this coming summer. The book has taken me, by RV, to Alaska three times. It is, by far, THE best book for campground info and planning. The Milepost is the best for services on the Alcan. The two together are all I use or need. Can't wait to get it!

This book is amazing in providing places to camp, size of camp ground and size of camping spot. The prices are listed as is the location both in mile location and GPS coordinates.
This will be a great companion to the "Mile Post". They have a lot of the same information but also compliment each other in having some different information.
This is a must have if your going to take a road trip to Alaska. See you on the road in 2014!!!!

If you are planning a RV trip thru AK, this is the book to get. It covers 90%+ of the CGs you'll likely to encounter and provides basic information such as phone, gps coordinates, address, etc. The most helpful feature to me was the wifi availability at CGs as I used the internet to maintain contact with family. What it lacks, however, is $ cost. Instead, they will give it a $ sign to indicate approximate prices. I wish they would have provided actual (or even last year's) dollar costs to allow us to budget CG costs along our route. Following the highways in this book can also be confusing but that is not the fault of the author. RVs can go anywhere--that's what we do--so sometimes it is difficult to follow CGs from page to page as the author may describe CGs on a branch highway different than what you will take. But I still heartily recommend this guide--there is none better for AK RVing.
