I purchased this map as a hopeful update to an earlier version of the same map. The only problem is that all the forest service road & trail errors that I had to deal with in my previous version were still present. That is not a particularly good thing if you plan on relying on the map while out in the woods. I have since returned this map for a refund.
If you are interested in purchasing a map that has accurate forest service, BLM, and state trails and roads, I would recommend the Benchmark Road and Recreational Atlas. If all you want is a topographical map of the state, then this should work.

I bought this atlas to replace my 6-year-old worn-out copy of the previous edition. The atlas has been completely re-done, and I was hoping it would have some of the new state campsites I have stumbled across that weren't in my old atlas. Nope! Worse than that, the map now uses one symbol - a small square - for trailheads as well as any campground smaller than an RV park. You can no longer skim the map looking for triangles - they aren't there. And the campgrounds that are labeled are marked with numbers, which you must then go look up in the front of the atlas.
This atlas is much less useful and much less readable than its predecessor. I'll be switching to Benchmark.

I always used DeLorme Atlas' when I lived on the East Coast and in the south. They, to me, are the standard by which all others try to measure. There were no second thoughts as I moved back west as to which I should purchase for my camping, hiking and backpacking needs.
When I picked up my first copy at a local sporting goods store, I noticed several pages were missing, importantly including those from my new found area. I brought it back and pointed out the problem. One emploee and I sorted through and found about 6 simularly bound specimens. I quickly was swapped into a good atlas and life goes on.
These, I feel are more chart than map. I don't think it would be my go to choice for driving. They're perfect, however, for backpacking.

Having used this map over several seasons now, I am rescinding my previous rating of 5 and now give it a 2 (at best). This edition of the Gazetteer is completely inferior to the previous edition I had (circa 1990's), particularly as it relates to showing campgrounds and roads in out of the way primitive locations within the Federal Forests and Parks. In fact, this is such that it renders this Gazetteer pretty much useless. If you have a l990's edition treat it with kid gloves and don't waste your money on the new edition. Now....speaking of kid - I have to find #1 daughter and beg her to give me my old one back!!

I bought the Gazetteer to find out where all the logging roads go. It is wonderful to get out in the woods and come to a crossroad and be able to know it dead ends or keeps going. We are getting very familiar with our forests in this area now. The seller was very honest about the condition and made sure it was better than the review they offered. Couldn't be happier. It will never leave our vehicle.

So far this atlas has been the best tool i have to plan for family camping trips, and for hunting in the fall. I don't know how I lived with out it. The details you get from it are amazing, from camp ground information and finding new camp grounds that no one has ever heard of to helping to find just the right area to scout out for the deer hunt. I will never be with out one of these Atlas and Gazetteer's again

DeLorme Atlases have changed my life. I have used these to find the most beautiful and secret places I've ever seen. Never again will I camp at an "incorporated" KOA-style campground. It's amazing to be able to explore logging roads and back country wilderness without getting lost. Pack an extra gas can, lots of water, camping gear and a DeLorme, and you're gonna have a good time!
