Jack Jewers has written about Ireland for Frommer's since 2006. Born and raised in England, he loved listening to his great aunt's tales about life in Dublin during the civil war. Jack proposed to his Irish-American wife at a spa on the Ring of Kerry. He gives it a great review in this book. Jack and his wife reside in Surrey, England.

With a trip to Ireland planned within the next 2 years, this book is just what I need to help plan our trip. I probably won't sit down & read this book completely through, but I will use it as an informational guide. It is perfect for what we need. I can spend some time learning about Ireland so that we will have some direction in knowing where we want to go & what we want to see. Not being sure if I will read it completely, my opinion is that this is a great book to get the information we need to prepare for Ireland. I may revisit this review after the trip is planned because I will have a better idea about how much I relied on it. I am glad to have the information now to get started.

I bought this because of its size and my not needing too much information about hotels and restaurants. It is good, but not as complete as the DK books and regular Frommer guides. It could use an index, since it is a bit difficult to find specific places and sites.

Loved the sample tours and detailed description for the various places to see and do. I think the book will be a great companion when we are driving around Ireland. The various maps focusing on the local areas will be very helpful.
