More About the Author

Living on a remote coral atoll for five years with no phone, plumbing and limited solar electricity prevented Celeste from getting an early start in her writing career - although it sounds idyllic, washing laundry by hand, digging your own well and sustenance fishing takes a big chunk out of one's day. She now lives in a small village on Tahiti, complete with flushing toilet and an Internet connection, and her travel articles have magically crossed the seas to appear in newspapers and magazines including the LA Times and Islands Magazine. She has contributed to around 40 Lonely Planet guidebooks and her award winning travel narratives have been published in Travelers' Tales anthologies. Having travelled to some 40 countries, Celeste speaks fluent French as well as conversational Spanish, Thai and Indonesian. In her spare time she can be found singing with a French Tahitian choral group, Tahitian dancing or distance swimming in Tahiti's spectacular lagoon. You can find Celeste on the web at www.celestebrash.com or read her blog at htpp://coconutradio.blogspot.com.

My wife and I just got back from a cruise in the South Pacific with three days before and after the cruise on Tahiti. Since we knew we would have time on our own and there would be many excursions I decided the lonely planet book would help us evaluate things we shouldn't miss and what excursions would be worth while... and I was glad we had it. The list of the top things to do in French Polynesia inspired us to make sure to see the waterfalls on Tahiti, which was one of the best experiences we had (since we saw them in the rain so they were huge). I don't know if we would have prioritized them as much without this guide.

I did decide to get the electronic version so I could have it on my phone rather than carrying the book around. I was glad for this because we could often refer to it during a meal or at another time when i doubt I would have been carrying a book around. The organization of the kindle version is a little klunky due to the way the original table of contents is laid out but usable. Oh... I did not get a travel plan for my phone so make sure to download it before you go or you risk some hefty data rate charges.

We are going to Tahiti on the Oceania Marina in April 2013. We attempted to schedule excursions 2 mo. prior to sailing date. Much to our chagrin, we found that most of the excursions were booked. We ordered this book to our Kindle and used it to arrange a much superior agenda for this trip. Great book!!

I recently went to Tahiti, Bora Bora and Moorea. I bought this book as well as Moon Tahiti and thought that Moon Tahiti was more informative. This one's not bad, but I felt that Moon Tahti had more information and more options on things to do.

Over the course of planning our honeymoon we started having issues finding all of our options in French Polynesia. While most business have a web presence, they aren't search optimized and quiet frankly, they are terrible and exume little faith in their services.

The Lonely Planet guide book has been indispensable. It's reinforced some of our rare finds and help show us all options.

• Easy to flip through
• Well organized
• Up to date
• More useful than a travel agent we tried to work with!

The organization of this book needs improvement, but the individual information was very useful. I just wish that for the individual islands the information would be listed individually and geographically as if you were driving around the island.

Only comment, needs some pictures and more maps, otherwise this was a useful book and lightweight to carry with you.

While I believe the lonely planet series of books are great, this is NOT a book for a Kindle. You can get very lost by clicking on certain areas and trying to get back to the original page is about impossible. I ended up ordering the hard copy of this book, which has been very informative and great. I do not think the format of these books works with the Kindle, unless you intend to read from start to finish, without going to reference pages, etc.
