Editorial Reviews

Review

2013: This is a must have publication of you are taking a boat to the Abaco's. It is also most useful as a detailed travel guide. --amazon

2013: It is very good for getting the layout of the islands even if you are land based and renting a powerboat. --amazon

2012: The Best Abaco Guide;I have tried other guides but come back to this one every year. The local knowledge and descriptions of each location, route, etc. are excellent. I cruise with this guide open in the wheelhoues. It is great! --amazon

If you are sailing to the Abaco islands in the Bahamas, this is a guide you must have. The depths are accurate, the anchorage suggestions are spot on, and we really enjoyed reading the history the author includes. This guide was suggested to me by a friend, and I am passing the suggestion along. A must have companion to your paper charts and chart plotter.

Would like more local knowledge on port facilities; food, cart rental, bars, especially the smaller harbours. Good caharts and way points.

I have found this guide extremely helpful at now preplotting all my Abacoa island hopping to be done next week.

It clarified safe channels and markers for developing my routes.

Worth the purchase price and I haven't even left for my trip yet.

Things change very quickly in the Bahamas. Lots of businesses go out of business and channels shoal over or are dredged. Just make sure you get the latest edition.

This guide meets all expectations... buy with confidence. All anchorage were clear and recommendations fairly accurate (some dive sites not as populated as one would have wanted)

I found out about this book 2 days before we were leaving for Hope Town/Elbow Cay, wish I had it a month earlier. Even if you don't step foot on a boat the entire time you're down there, this book is worth every penny, with detailed write-ups about the various small towns/settlements, restaurants, resorts, activities, etc. We rented a boat for the week and this was our bible. Wonderfully detailed info on harbors, where to snorkel, fish, find deserted beaches, etc. -- they even have captioned photos of approaches to all the harbors/inlets. They put out a new version every year with updated maps and local info, which is good, because our current version is so dog-eared, written-in and covered with sea spray I'd probably want a new one anyway. =) btw, they use good paper that stands up to a week on a boat and in beach bags.

Invaluable local info for a trip to Abaco -- two big thumbs up!!

(ps, if you have access to a VHF radio, tune in to Ch 68 every morning (ex. Sunday I believe) at 8:15 for CruisersNet -- a look at the day's weather, conditions and activities around Abaco.)
