I read one review that complained that this book is just the Andalusia chapter of the DK Spain book. I have both books and that statement is incorrect. Yes, it is true that the two books have pieces in common, but the specialized Andalusia book does concentrate on the area and has much more info.

We love the DK Eyewitness maps, specially the pictures of the street-by-street tours; some of them are repetition of the Spain Travel Guide, but since we are going to be mostly in Andalusia and Seville we rather have this book.

These books are quite compact for travel, although heavy. They are our favorite because they have lots of wonderful pictures and history on glossy magazine stock as well as an outlining of the sites one should see when traveling thorough the subject area. They are so all inclusive that if you are an armchair traveler due to disabilty or finances, buy the book that suits your fancy, turn off the boob tube and travel to your heart's content. For the traveler, the big negative is the weight of the book while sightseeing. It is best, in my view, to study up and leave the book in your hotel room unless you like carrying a big purse or backpack which I do not.

My husband and I will be spending a month in southern Spain in and this book is perfect for that trip. At first we thought it would be duplicative of other travel books about Spain but it goes in depth about Seville & Andalusia, and for that reason, it's a terrific guide for us given our itinerary.

This book has a lots of information regarding the history, culture & specialities of the region along with lovely pictures. Their street by street tours are useful. However, this book does not have enough practical information especially regarding getting around places (within a town or between towns). This would be fine if one has a car but not if you're dependent on public transportation
