I have seen nothing like this in guide books, and that is an affirmative statement. The tourist triangle of Delhi,Agra, Jaipur abounds is exotic architecture, markets and planned sites. Here they are colorfully illustrated in both detail and birds-eye views. It is great preparation for a visit and visual enjoyment for the armchair traveler.

This might be a great book if you are in the process of considering a trip to India. It is a good overview. However, if you know exactly where you will be traveling, pick up a more detailed guide for that area. I did like all the color pictures.

The important thing for me is that this book - like all DK Eyewitness travel books - shows you what there is to see and does so in an organized manner. I find these books are essential for travel planning if you are a sightseer. All the museums, art galleries, historical sights and other travel information are well illustrated. It is also comprehensive so you don't miss much. I cannot see the value of other travel books that don't illustrate.

When I was looking for a guide to New Dehli, India, this guide caught my eye. When it arrived, it met my expectations. My trip will be to the area covered by the guide (New Dehli and surrounding area). We are particularly interested in the Taj Mahal. It and the entire area are covered in the sort of detail that is helpful to someone not familiar with the area.
