More About the Author

Dave by day is a strategist and problem solver for clients ranging from the Fortune 500 to local not-for-profits. At night and on weekends he writes yourfirstvisit.net, and, lately, Disney World guidebooks. All the time he's a husband, dad, son, and brother. The easy Guide to Your First Walt Disney World Visit, co-authored with Josh Humphrey, is his first book.

He has a BA from the University of Chicago, and both an MA in English Literature and MBA from the University of Virginia, where he also completed the majority of work for a PhD in English Literature. He spent almost a decade as a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Co., Inc., and since then has largely operated as an independent strategy consultant.

He founded yourfirstvisit.net more than six years ago--the first Disney World site aimed squarely at first-time visitors who may never return. He visits Disney World six to ten times a year, and later in 2014 he will stay in his hundredth different Disney World hotel room.

If you love Josh's humor and honesty from his blog/website, you will enjoy this book! So glad he teamed up with Dave to write such a useful addition to my Disney planning library. The book is very well laid out, easy to put your fingers on key information and a must for any first-timers planning a WDW visit. For those of us who have visited frequently, I love the latest info on FastPass+ and touring plans with the recent additions changes at Magic Kingdom. Thanks for the dedication, Josh & Dave!

I guess the best praise I can offer is that I trust these guys to help me plan 10 days of a very pricey vacation for 14 people during the holidays. Josh and Dave's sites were extremely helpful in planning my 2012 trip, and I have relied on them consistently for our upcoming trip. I bought the book as a thank you for years of high-quality advice, thinking I would probably not find anything new. Scanning the first few pages of the Kindle version, I found a great tip about our resort. Already highlighted. WDW is too expensive for us not to maximize our time there. Their advice saved us time, frustration, and money that FAR EXCEEDS the cost of this book. This is a balanced guide, offering realistic viewpoints and a healthy dose of enthusiasm for the parks, without a lot of sugary spin. Well worth it.

My family and I have been to Walt Disney World in Orlando more than 10 times in the last 4-5 years. We stay on top of all the changes and latest strategies for maximizing our experience. Even armed with WAY more knowledge than 95% of WDW-goers, we still found so many things we didn't know in this book. We cannot recommend it, and its companion website easywdw.com, enough.

The authors live in Orlando and are in the parks nearly every day. You'll find that's NOT the case with the authors of most other guidebooks. And with the constant updated information on the website, you'll always have access to the latest information.

Buy the book, follow its advice for touring the parks, and you'll have the best WDW vacation ever!

First off, one of the many things I love about this book is the excellent and easy to use organization that it depends on. Rather than be overwhelmed with everything Disney I can tackle one aspect at a time and work my way through the well thought out information to figure things out.

This is a book that provides the information in a logical and easy to understand way that will help all my RESORT choices, TICKET choices and RESTAURANT and RIDE choices all make sense for my family and they way we like to vacation.

Many books will describe WHAT you can do but this book EXPLAINS what you can do and what the advantages and disadvantages are of making certain choices. This is the difference between The Easy Guide and all the other guide books. Knowing about and UNDERSTANDING the strategies for successful Disney Parks vacationing is what sets this book head and shoulders above the rest of the pack

The descriptions are rich in detail and they provide me with the information that I want to know. For example the question of what my kids will actually eat in the Biergarten in Epcot's Germany provides me with the knowledge that it's worth it to book a family meal there. Detailed descriptions of the resort rooms and amenities answer all of my questions and allow me to compare resort categories so I can make the best budgeted accommodations. An understanding of park crowd patterns is explained so that I know what to do to avoid unnecessary waiting in lines. Restaurant reviews are honest and include menu highlights, failures and whether or not the place is a good choice for children.

To sum it up, the information provided in this book is like hearing it from a trusted friend, who knows the ropes, will tell you the truth, and who can fill you in on all the information that will help make your trip exactly what you need it to be without overwhelming you... and isn't what you want out a Disney Parks vacation planning book?

I have enjoyed annual trips to Walt Disney World for over a decade and still found this guide book useful for it's current content and relevant reviews and suggestions. Josh's site, easyWDW.com, helped me plan my last few trips so I know I can depend on his advice. I really enjoy the writing style and personality conveyed on his site and in this book. Highly recommended!

I have owned and used numerous Walt Disney World guide and planning books, both in preparation for my first visits to the park, but now that I am an annual passholder, additionally in referring family and friends to the best sources to use when planning a trip to Walt Disney World. Simply put, this one blows the rest away, both in terms of substantive content as well as ease of use. That is a very tricky line to walk in guidebooks such as this, but The Easy Guide does it in a way none of its predecessors has been able to. This books also feels the most comprehensively "hands on", so to speak, from authors who clearly know the best methods, deals, and practical experience in the parks and resorts and have spent the time in each to know what works best for different types of people. I am actually surprised how much information is in this book that I've learned in just the brief days since I received it, thinking I already knew pretty much all there is to know due to our countless trips as locals to the parks. I will be ordering multiple copies of this for our family and friends planning future trips to the World. Thank you to the authors for such an effective book.
