The Eyewitness guides are great if you are the type that likes to "see" the places you might be going to, rather than just reading about them. Lots of pictures, dare say an average of one per page.
The guide to Switzerland came in quite useful on a recent trip to Geneva (as place I had been many times), but this time I had a stay over the weekend and decided to venture out around Lake Geneva. Based on the pictures and info in the I found the most ideal summer vacation spot.
I've used other of these guides and had similar good results. The only thing I find missing from these guides as a rule is admission prices and times. Sure, these can change, but other guides (my other trusty one, Fodor's) tend to provide this info, if with less photos. Seems no particular reason they could not provide this info, but with the resources on the WEB I guess its not a big drawback, it would just be very convenient to have it all in one place.

Very little Swiss travel info of value. The guide spends too much on museums and churches. I hope there is more to Switzerland than then that. Overall-- very general. Good pictures.

The DK travel guides always seem to be good, and this one is no exception. We had questions about the rail travel, and the answers were included. Also good info on all the places that we plan to visit. We usually buy the DK books prior to travel to other countries. We are glad we bought this one. Descriptions are very helpful.
