Michelin's map of Ireland was a most welcome companion on our trip through western Ireland. On a tour, having a good, clear map makes it an easy matter to keep track of what's where as your bus lumbers along lovely but narrow byways and hangs on by its fingernails as we drive along coastal cliffs. And afterwards, a detailed, marked map makes captioning one's gobs of pictures a very easy matter.

We have mounted this detailed map on a wall.
We use sticky notes to locate where we are going so that we can get a bird's eye view of the possibilities
of sights along the way.
We plan to use it as a supplement to a GPS when we are actually in the car on the other side of the road.

First of all, this is a beautiful map. It is perfect for spreading out on a large dining room table and planning your trip to Ireland. However, it's far too large and unwieldy to use in a tiny European car driving on the left side of a narrow sheep-infested road. Think of a giant car-filling airbag. You could hang this on a wall and put pushpins in it to illustrate your trip for a large group of friends. However, it would be insane to buy it to use it in a car. Go for the AA or OSi atlases if you want a car-friendly map.
