I hate maps and prefer GPS but when they are needed, no one does it better! These maps are part of a traveller's emergency kit.

This atlas was a disappointment. I'm a retired vet who lived in Germany for 6 years, and I'm a seasoned traveler who prefers to use a map over GPS.
I did a lot of driving in Germany over a 3 week period during a recent visit. I found this atlas too "busy" and difficult to use. In other words, too much information is crammed on a single page. The city maps were also difficult in that they were over zoomed, or not enough. For example, the city of Munich zoomed hard on the city center, and then too far out on the rest of the city to be useful. I ended up buying fold out maps in Germany, which turned out to be far superior and cheaper.
This atlas is better than nothing, and fine for major roads only, but I opted to leave it behind at the end of my vacation. I kept the maps I bought in Germany for the next trip.

My quest was to find 2 small German villages which were the birthplaces of my ancestors before emigration to the U.S. This atlas was essential, and we were successful. In spite of the weight added to your overseas luggage, I recommend buying before you leave. You will need an atlas as soon as you drive across the border, and you don't want to be clueless.
