It would be helpful to have more specific information for each area. Because the book covers such a large region, it is more of a broad overview without going into many details about any one place.

My wife and I purchased this book a few days prior to our trip to Africa. Its a good read on your iPad (ebook), but is missing some details. Would recommend taking the information from the book and do additional online research for specific things you are looking to do.

The two stars are for the Kindle Edition. It was impossible to flip through and the maps were unreadable. Fortunately someone else on my trip had the paper version which is great, as are all Lonely Planet books. I don't know where most people travel in South Africa, but there was no internet in most of the places I was unable to use any of the Kindle features that were on line. I love my Kindle but it is useless for guidebooks like this.
